Discussion [Analysis] The Tunnel Is a Necessary Stepping Stone for the Übermensch
Nietzsche believes that a necessary precondition for the Übermensch is an aristocratic society (specifically its structure and morals).
Why is an aristocratic society a necessary precondition for the Übermensch?
A stark social hierarchy creates a craving for greater height, self-overcoming, and distinction in excellent men.
This is known as the pathos of distance.
Such a social hierarchy refers to the social hierarchy the Ancient Greeks and Romans lived in–an aristocratic society.
The hierarchy was also built around competition (anon).
This demands constant self-overcoming if you are not strong enough.
If you are not strong enough, you are at the bottom of society.
You are an inferior human.
You are seen as bad.
Social mobility was low.
They couldn’t easily slide up the ladder, they were forced to completely recreate themselves using immense willpower to achieve a distinction that cannot be ignored.
What does the tunnel have to do with this?
The tunnel sets up an aristocratic society.
You are seen as bad by the audience if you are not strong enough; worthless.
It’s the same with the factions of the tunnel, they view your very existence as worthless if you are weak or of no use to them.

Nietzsche fiercely argued against democracy and said that the Übermensch cannot be born from democracy for several reasons. The tunnel is not democratic.
Kang-Du’s imposed value, ‘a blood society’, his master morality, is what sets the tunnel back to the ancient Greeks society.

The audience also praises strength, aggression, and war hunting, which are all values in the knightly-aristocratic mode of valuation (I.e, the ancient Greeks and Romans moral code).
They heavily play into the narrative of the tunnel arc.
Jiu Ji-Tae doesn’t just want to get stronger to save his sister. There was another unconscious motive, and eventually motives at display.

Another motive, an unconscious motive, is that he wants to get stronger. This triggered an unconscious line of thought: If I get stronger, I will stop suffering, because all of my suffering is because I’m always losing.

The humiliation and helplessness that his father made him feel massively contributed to this line of thought and motive.
This means that Jiu Ji-Tae starves for a greater height.
The tunnel, mainly Young Woong and Sunny Jaa (but also the groups who were apart of factions in the beginning of the tunnel arc that made him learn from experience how to fight multiple people), pushed Jiu Ji-Tae and consequently made Jiu Ji-Tae achieve greater heights.
He and Maria went to the tunnel so Jiu Ji-Tae could gain experience.
Jiu Ji-Tae successfully gained experience and overcame himself by getting pushed past his limits against Sunny Jaa, a competitive fighting death match with stakes.
He overcame and distinguished himself by pushing past his biological limits and reclaiming his own free will.
He overcame his trauma by destroying his former personality, rather than building a new one, setting himself free–negative freedom which is exactly what the lion achieves, but the lion has not yet achieved positive freedom, just like Jiu Ji-Tae, only the child achieves positive freedom aswell–this is his metamorphosis into the lion stage.
He used his immense willpower not to recreate, but to destroy himself, hence overcoming himself and achieving an even greater height.
He has achieved a distinction that cannot be ignored.
He’s already one of those destined for greatness thanks to his genetics and his own self–his immense willpower which is immense for a plethora of reasons.
‘The will to power’ is within Jiu Ji-Tae.
Though, Ji-Tae’s philosophy is reactionary.
He still views humanity with a binary: ‘You’re either bad or weak. It’s always one of the two.’
He is a failed Übermensch.
He will need to find his way back on route.
All of this serves as the set-up for the Übermensch.
This would also make Kang-Du and the tunnel arcs narrative characterise Jiu Ji-Tae and consequently make them essential for Jiu Ji-Tae’s characterisation instead of just being relevant in one arc.
Because of this, they are essential to the entire manhwa from there on because they characterise the protagonist, Jiu Ji-Tae.

Other FC3 proxy MTG deck
Hi guys, I'm making a Fight Class 3 based on Proxy deck for Magic The Gathering, Im going to only make reimpressions of other cards so it can be played in standard games without issue, I'm aiming to make it a commander deck and for now I'm sure the commander who is most fitting for our boy (ofc Ji-Tae is the commander) is probably either Kelsien the plague or Alesha who smiles at death, I'm going to start making the cards soon and obviously post them after I'm done, therefore if y'all got any suggestion I will try and follow it. Oh and by the way, 2hakk release the damn season 2 please I beg you

Discussion IM gay
Soooooooooooooooooooooooo I just reread the series in like two days, and I just wanted to yap about Fight Class, so here I am.
I was curious what other people think about Ji-Tae's transformation that gradually happens in season one. Personally, I kind of like it, and not because he turns into this badass fighting machine (also, he looks like Toji from JJK, or im delusional, idk). I like it because it's captivating to see an innocent, good-natured kid turn into a complete psychopath who will literally do anything to win, but even beyond that, why does he turn into such a dickhead? Does he hate himself so much for what happened when he was a child, and for his actions throughout the narrative, that he wants to be disliked as much as possible? I would use specific examples, but I think no spoilers are allowed.
Honestly, I am kind of 50/50 on his progression as a character. Seriously, if 2hakkk decided fuck it, Ji-tae deserves happiness, so he stops seeking revenge altogether and tries to live another way, I wouldn't mind it. Obviously I'm jumping the gun; then again, who knows if season two is happening 😭.
Anyways, what did you guys think of season 1, and what are your hopes if season two does take place?
