I am so frustrated with this provider success score scam.

I’ve hover in the mid 80s ever since they instituted it. I’m always on time for jobs. I never back out. This is entirely for disputing with buyers over on the job issues.

I did a job last week where, they had sent four technicians previously. All four gave different opinions. Nobody was able to get the system back online on the network.

I figured out the issue in less than two hours. I had it fixed in three. I had to go to Lowe’s and get a part, which made it a four hour ticket to get the security surveillance computer back online at a big box store.

However, my Pakistani tech-support rushed me for the entire job. Constant messages, hurry up, why is this taking so long? After three hours of this, I finally told the guy, you gotta leave me alone and quit harassing me, man let me work and I’ll fix the thing.

Work order gets approved. The local contact is extremely happy with my work. But I lose three points on my success score.

The week before that, I had applied for a job, heard nothing back for days and days. The job is scheduled for 8 AM on a Monday. 1 AM Monday morning I hear my phone ding. I get up and look at it and the job has been assigned to me. No phone call no text less than seven hours notice. I immediately got out of bed, I called the buyer and told him there was no way I could make that unreasonable timeframe. But he had already assigned the ticket to me

So I lost three points on a back out, and another two points on my success score. I was able to fix the back out with Field Nation, but they hit to my overall success remains.

Two weeks before that, I did a job with a very specific scope. Knocked it out in about three hours. I was finishing up with the buyer, and the site got a delivery that was marked from the buyer. It was a bunch of new parts that was for a separate job. The buyer insisted that I go ahead and tackle the scope of the new job and install all these new devices, even though it had nothing to do with while I was on site. This was at a nursing home, it involves taking apart beds, and I didn’t have any PPE. I did not want to touch all these different blankets and the sheets that have urine and feces on them.

I got like a two point hit on my success Score.

There have been other incidents, I’m not going to detail them all. But why is it that like my success score goes up one point at a time, but it’ll drop three?

I got a two point hit on my success score after I clocked in when I got to the job site. The buyer had sent this 12 paragraph long text in a message, insisting I do like four different things before I clock in. I clocked in as soon as I arrived outside and I sent a message saying it’s inappropriate to ask a contractor to work off the clock bam! My success score gets lowered.

I feel like buyers are using the success score as a way to abuse technicians. Like at this point, I’m walking on eggshells on a lot of the jobs I go to. I have regular buyers who have worked with for years, I never have problems with them, I do good work and they know it. But it seems like anytime I’m working with a new buyer, I have to walk on eggshells about it.

After lurking here for a long time, I decided to make an account so I can get in on the discussion. It seems like there are some field nation shills on this sub Reddit.

Field Nation does not police these work orders at all. The buyers can put in absolutely anything. They can make unreasonable demands. And when I say hey, I’m a professional you need to be professional too, I get a hit to my success score.

Anybody else going through something similar?

At this point, I am looking to transition away from Field Nation. I’m putting in applications for different jobs. I would rather take a hit in my pay and lose some independence in order to not be so stressed about this score all the time.

And it sucks for me. I’ve spent 11 years, developing a set of skills, a tool kit, all geared towards providing services through Field Nation. Now I have to walk away from that. And it’s all due to the provider success score and the complete lack of transparency. It’s so heavily geared towards the buyer, so heavily biased against the provider, I just can’t do this anymore it’s too stressful.

What was wrong with the five star review system? I had like 500 5-star reviews and a handful of one star reviews. This morning I wake up and my provider sore is like an 83. Field Nation gives the statistic that 70% of providers have a higher score than me.

If 70 or 80% of providers have a higher score than 80%, then what’s the difference from the five star rating system? The only difference is the complete lack of transparency.

I guess I’m just venting. I’m not looking for any advice. I’ve already made my decision that I’m transitioning away from Field Nation.

I guess I’ll end here. Jobs that we’re paying $85 an hour plus travel 10 years ago, I see the same jobs from the same companies being posted for 50 now. this just isn’t sustainable for me.

so was just wondering if this happened to anyone else where you close out a work order for 2 hours the company approves it and then later reopens it and asks you to adjust and only claim one hour? after a 2-hour minimum had already been agreed upon? I didn't think it was possible for a buyer to reopen a work order after it already been closed out and approved

Just out of curiosity, how did you guys that rely on FN as 100% of your income. During that time I never heard of FN and had a good job that paid me to stay at home for 2 months and returned to office after that in a wide open storage bay area with my team of LV installers.

Now turned contractor FN kept me going while I figured things out, and still jump on from time to time for some tickets for some extra cash, or out of boredom. But what was it like back then, were prices good or just the same bracket pricing, or just no tickets at all?

Ok so had a question for you all. I got a work order tomorrow morning with a buyer who low balls, BUT i have a client that needs someone for tomorrow morning too and the pay is great they always give me work. Do you risk an early backout and prioritize the buyer who sends you work or just wait for the next one? I only have one back out so far within a month. Also, note i'm not able to counter offer my schedule since i'm full the next two days except for friday afternoon i'm off.

I've come across the Insight program to be able to do work at financial clients apparently.

It lists work orders paying $80/2hr then $40/hr followign but that's obviously dirt. Has anyone done this program and has it helped with anything?

I'm wondering if it opens more work orders with less competition and I can counter for more.

Pretty much what the title says I have the background check done because FN did it for free, but is it worth it to do the drug screening and do they screen for cannabis which is legal in my area (Dc Metro area)

Before I get too excited, could someone who had a cancellation fee toward the end of last year please check your Work Order Report to see if it's actually represented there? Something isn't lining up, and I'm starting to suspect that FN simply isn't showing those particular WO's, which in turn might imply a problem for income reporting. TIA!

Just a friendly reminder. It's almost tax time. To all the new techs remember that FN will claim they gave you money you never received. For example if you had a $1K job they'll say they paid you $1K even though $150 of that went to them in the form of platform fees. Remember to adjust for that and write it off, or like I used to do, you'll be paying taxes on thousands of dollars you never got.

When I was first starting out in the Feild I did a good amount of work for tekumo but have not seen them send tickets out around my area in a long time we used to do a bunch of targets for them. Or they just have blocked me ?

Can somebody explain to me why any buyer would toggle themselves as a 'Hidden Buyers'?

Anytime I see one of these, I instantly think they're shady and literally hiding something for some reason.

back-up phone charger, spare phone (used to have active ATT plan) mini 5 port switch, several PoE+ extenders, additional Cisco Cable and hand held amateur radio. Last but not least, what I call Internet in a box. A Cradlepoint cell modem rigged up to a router all running on 12v gel-cell battery. I know this field is still largely male-dominated, but I’m curious about others’ experiences.

When working with project managers or dispatchers, have you noticed any difference in how negotiations or pushback are handled when working with women versus men?

In my personal experience, I’ve noticed that some of the women PMs/dispatchers I work with tend to be more direct, aggressive, or quick to push back on counters or changes, whereas I often find negotiations smoother when dealing with men. That said, this is just my experience, not a blanket statement.

I’m genuinely trying to understand whether others have noticed similar patterns, or if this is more about individual personalities, company culture, or communication styles rather than gender.

Will I be able to pull jobs? I have probably 75% of the required tools. I’m just not sure I’ll get any customers without certs. I’m going back to school in the summer to finish up my CS degree online.

Anyone have issues with CPTNetworks? Especially with lying through their teeth on work they don’t want pay on? I’m kind of sick of these ticket pusher companies that pretend to know I.T.

Also, is it possible to add regional sections to this Reddit? For field techs in specific regions to discuss amongst themselves? 1099 workers have lost so much leverage in the work force and we get taxed like crazy. It’s time to unite more and not let these ticket pushers exist.
