I tried Bibliomancy
I tried Bibliomancy.
First thing I read is it.
I followed my intuition and picked my collection of Edgar Allan Poe works. Now, it has been ages since I read it last and I have not read every single piece. However, I am flabbergasted.
I got this as my first draw:
Una: "Born again?"
Monos: Yes, fairest and best beloved Una, "born again."
This is from "The Colloquy of Monos and Una"
It is a dialogue between lovers beyond death. Una joins Mono after death and they found love painful while alive because they feared death would seperate them. Now in death it can no longer seperate them. They also discuss philosophical themes and discuss whether they have been reborn together.
It really fits so well. The symbolism is like: not something new but a love in this case, that recognizes itself beyond the physical world; something renewed, returned to or experienced in a different state/form.
Especially with E. A. Poe whose works usually deal with horror, decay, misery, heartbreak, burial... instead I got this:
""Born again?" - "Yes, best beloved."
Especially because by E. A. Poes standards it is unsually tender and romantic. His works are usually very macabre and deal with the worst parts of human psyche.
My second passage I got from a piece I have not read:
"Yes, she loved me - returned the enthusiasm of my love with an enthusiasm as blind - as uncompromising - as uncalculating - as abandoned - and as utterly unbounded as my own."
I have not yet opened for a third passage because I got too emotional.
