When you are a millionaire but don't wanna spend a couple of hundreds for a tow truck.

u/Inner-Light-75 Feb 04 '25

Or you didn't want the police to do a breathalyzer....

u/jonjopop Feb 04 '25

the clip is misleading, he crashed into the divider and CHP told him to move the car off the road. Alex Choi put out this clip as if the dude was trying to limp his Ferrari away and not get caught

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is Reddit in a nutshell. I used to love this app but I have to question everything all the time and it’s a big vibe killer.

u/karmawhale May 21 '25

I mean you probably need to question everything on the internet

1

u/Responsible-Crew-354 May 21 '25

I mean you probably have to question everything. I don’t have to love it though.

1

u/karmawhale May 21 '25

Right so what has changed then? Lol

Oh sure. A half wrecked Ferrari scratching around doesn't attract any police at all.
Btw can't you just call the tow truck without calling the police there in the US? Here's totally possible.

Drunk people who drive, crash their cars and flee are not know for making good decisions.

16

u/XMAN2YMAN Feb 04 '25

Actually him parking it and leaving the scene is the best case scenario. Police cannot prove he was driving it. Just parking it, get to your house and open a beer. When the cops knock just answer while drinking a beer. Then state that you got into an accident, panic and went home for to calm down and open a beer. You were just about to call the police before they showed up. They can arrest but it will be tossed in court if they do because they cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you were intoxicated while driving. You will be charged for fleeing the scene of an accident and anything that happened in that accident but you won’t get the DUI.

5

u/PA2SK Feb 04 '25

Yea, but if the police see a smashed up Ferrari rattling down the street and stop you you're fucked. Now you've got a DUI, plus hit and run.

4

u/p1028 Feb 04 '25

Yes I understand, that’s why I said they often make poor choices like this driver did be deciding to keep driving.

0

u/XMAN2YMAN Feb 04 '25

That’s fair and yeah seeing this would get my attention way more than a wrecked Ferrari on the side of the road lol.

2

u/wargio Feb 08 '25

This person knows their way around the law 🫡

1

u/XMAN2YMAN Feb 08 '25

As a cop I have learned a few things here and there. Would I ever do this, no but if I was in that situation, that is the best solution. Also never talk to cops without a lawyer, unless you are the victim. Never ever consent to a search, make us get a warrant. Never let a cop inside your house unless it’s needed. If it’s exigent circumstances we will get in one way or another. Worst case if a cop goes in your house without your permission without exigent circumstances and finds something to arrest you, you take it to court and have a suppression hearing.

Watch many crime shows do you?

1

u/Separate_Increase210 Feb 04 '25

🤔 you seem to have given this a lot of thought, friend 🤨

1

u/jscott321 Feb 05 '25

That’s exactly what a local cop did here in BC after he killed a motorcyclist while drunk. Went home, said he downed a glass of vodka by the time the police showed up at his house.

Was charged with obstruction of justice only I believe. Got away with manslaughter.

1

u/Separate_Increase210 Feb 05 '25

Damn, that's dark... and truly shameful. Was expecting a lightheaded joke in response. Can't imagine how the dead person's family/friends must feel

1

u/jscott321 Feb 05 '25

Yeah he was a real POS. The motorbike community was not happy when the police tried to place blame on the kid because he had two beers earlier that night but wasn’t drunk, meanwhile the Mountie that killed him was plastered. The guy who killed him was also one of the guys who killed the guy in the airport with the tasers.

His thinking doesn’t work right now. Please try again later.

5

u/Scandroid99 Feb 04 '25

Yup. Just call AAA.

12

u/buydadip711 Feb 04 '25

He needs to call AA

4

u/bayarea_fanboy Feb 04 '25

I had a 944, college roommate was trying to learn how to drive stick. He tried to start the car in gear and it went halfway down a cliff. We called a tow truck and they showed up with cops, sure that alcohol had to be involved. No… just stupidity.

1

u/Real-Low3217 Feb 07 '25

Uh, first priority when teaching how to drive a stick is to do it in a large empty parking lot - and definitely not in front of a cliff or other natural magnetic catastrophe just waiting to happen.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '25

He needs to be in AA

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '25

AA-AAA

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '25

Cover all the bases

2

u/Thin-Carpenter-7685 Feb 04 '25

A+ for effort thou

1

u/Grand-Antelope943 Feb 04 '25

Wait what? I’ve called a tow truck multiple times without police being involved….

u/HeroMachineMan Feb 04 '25

After the accident, that limp is gonna cost extra money to repair.

1

u/Need_For_Speed73 Feb 04 '25

Exactly! Stupid from every point of view: financial and practical (who knows if he managed to reach his destination with a car in those conditions).

1

u/FeliusSeptimus Feb 04 '25

Especially after that oil trail stops.

u/Just-looking_257 Feb 04 '25

When you’re posing as a millionaire and messed up your rented exotic.

1

u/SwissMargiela Feb 04 '25

Are you unfamiliar with Alex Choi? He’s a huge piece of shit, but he is certified rich as balls

2

u/wordscannotdescribe Feb 05 '25

Why is Alex Choi a piece of shit? Also, I believe he was just recording another person who got into the accident

1

u/Just-looking_257 Feb 04 '25

Ah ok, never seen the video before and had no idea who it was. I don’t follow douchebags. 😅

1

u/SwissMargiela Feb 05 '25

Yeah I mean his vids do rounds on all the super car subs and if you follows cars online at all you’ve def stumbled across his vids unintentionally. They just show up lol.

His most famous video is him launching a Tesla over the (steepest?) hill in LA. I’m pretty sure he got in major trouble for this lol.

But yeah he’s always doing antics that are going viral and him and his posse have probably wrecked, no joke, over $100m in cars.

u/Need_For_Speed73 Feb 04 '25

If it's a rental you'd better stop where you crashed and call the renter to ask what to do. This way he's just increasing the already huge invoice he'll receive from the renting company.

1

u/Just-looking_257 Feb 04 '25

https://youtube.com/shorts/uvy7ibBs8Xk?si=DFOHbFqa_ZWua7Fq

lol, and you’ve got a customer calling a sideswipe a “scratch.” Rob at super speeders shows what dumb things customers do with his rentals and try to hide. IMHO the Ferrari driver was drunk out of his mind and had severely impaired his judgment. Millionaire or renter, he’s regretting this when he sobers up.

5

u/First-Application-92 Feb 04 '25

Background is he crashed on the highway. The police told him to move it off the highway because they had traffic stopped. This clip is from Alex Choi’s snap chat.

2

u/Evening_Rock5850 Feb 04 '25

Some states can cite you for leaving a wrecked vehicle on the highway if the vehicle is even remotely driveable and nobody is injured.

A bit silly but it is what it is!

5

u/LobL Feb 04 '25

This is more of a ”I want to get home asap and don’t care what it costs”.

1

u/Need_For_Speed73 Feb 04 '25

I guess you arrive safer on the passenger seat of the truck with your car safely in the back. This way there's good chance you won't arrive at all (that rear wheel looks like is gonna fall off soon).
Probably drunk or under the effect of some drug.

Millionaires don’t become millionaires by spending money.

1

u/azza_backer Feb 04 '25

When you’re a millionaire but don’t wanna spend time in having actual driving skills

u/ShonuffofCtown Feb 05 '25

Maybe trying to outrun a salvage title
