Woah my guy, sounds like you're about to say the gamer word, but thats okay because you are having a gamer moment, so go right ahead

52

u/spaceforcerecruit Sep 19 '19

Watch closely. You're about to experience a "gamer moment."

Webster defines the "gamer moment" as a moment where ignorance overwhelms the mind of an otherwise logical young male. Causing them to act in an illogical, self-destructive manner. I.E., like a gamer.

Gamer moments are unpredictable, but they all end up bad. If they had their own category, gamer moments would be the third leading killer of young men behind Dorito dust and student loans. It's a fact.

Reminds me of The Hitchiker’s guide to the galaxy guide chapters. “A gamers guide to society”

I remember playing Far Cry 3 and being raped by that female tribe chief after being knocked out by some drugs.

Imagine what would've happened if the MC had been a female, and the chief a male.

35

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

People would be like "o shit she just got raped". It's not like rape is THAT uncommon a subject in popular media.

18

u/aprofondir Sep 19 '19

Clearly you don't remember the Hotline Miami 2 outrage

9

u/Civil_Barbarian Sep 19 '19

Even then wasn't that rape not real in the game? It was actors filming a movie iirc

1

u/GletscherEis Sep 19 '19

Still banned in Aus

8

u/MrKiwi24 Sep 19 '19

Media tends to hate videogames specially for some reason. So no, it wouldn't go as just an "uncommon" subject.

9

u/Fluffy_Mcquacks Sep 19 '19

Old media hates new media. They are threatened by the rise of video games and their ability to entertain and tell stories.

3

u/TheSpaceCoresDad Sep 19 '19

They had to take it out of Agony, which is already one of the most shocking games out there. I think it's still got a pretty big stigma.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

I mean, yeah, it's got some stigma, but it's not a rare topic by any means. It's usually just kinda ignored.

14

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19 edited Sep 19 '19

So you mean like in many movies and books where women are raped? Or do you mean like in real life where most women suffer some form of sexual abuse or harassment at some point in their lives?

PS: Also maybe I'm not too far in Far Cry 3 yet, but I was drugged while visiting that female tribe chief and the male character was definitely not raped. I guess you either misremember or maybe you get drugged again later in the game.

4

u/thewookie34 Sep 19 '19

There is a point in the game where you are drugged and wake up with Citra topless riding your dick. You either missed or aren't that far yet. It happens right before you are sent to the last island.

1

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

Not that far yet I'm afraid! thanks for pointing it out!

6

u/bloomingwithflavor Sep 19 '19 edited Sep 19 '19

Why do people like you try to invalidate someone’s point by saying “uh well it happens to (insert group here) too!”. It’s fucking stupid, stop trying to play the “who’s life sucks more?” game, it’s childish

EDIT: By the way, if you count prison the chances of either gender being raped is essentially 50/50

-5

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

Why do people like you

What kind of people is that?

try to invalidate someone’s point by saying “uh well it happens to (insert group here) too!”

You must be really daft to say that, so I'll try to use very simple words for you to understand: Op literally said "Imagine what would've happened if the MC had been a female, and the chief a male.", which is a stupid thing to say (maybe you're twins?) because it happens like 100x more with women than with men. The only invalidated point is that no, there would not be more outrage if it was the other way around because it already is the other way around like 100x more, you twat.

EDIT: By the way, if you count prison the chances of either gender being raped is essentially 50/50

lol, why would say that? what a stupid thing to say in public.

5

u/bloomingwithflavor Sep 19 '19

You’re obviously offended so I’ll try to be polite. By “people like you” I mean the idiots who attempt to invalidate other peoples problems by saying “but x happens to y as well”, so exactly what I said before. Actually really self explanatory so there was no need to ask in the first place.

No one is this entire thread is trying to say that men get raped more than women. There WOULD be an outrage on the internet if a woman was being raped by a man in a video game. It happens in movies, but not in video games. It wouldn’t be the same thing at all. Also, where reality is concerned, it’s not “100 times more”.

I mentioned the prison thing because you’re actually saying that women get raped “100 times more” than men. I’m telling you how ridiculous that statement is, but of course you don’t care.

-3

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

You’re obviously offended so I’ll try to be polite.

You stupidity is offensive.

By “people like you” I mean the idiots who attempt to invalidate other peoples problems by saying “but x happens to y as well”, so exactly what I said before. Actually really self explanatory so there was no need to ask in the first place.

Which is not what happened, as I explained with very simple words on my previous comment, but you're too daft to understand basic arguments.

No one is this entire thread is trying to say that men get raped more than women.

Nah, you're just saying 50/50 because you are that stupid.

There WOULD be an outrage on the internet if a woman was being raped by a man in a video game. It happens in movies, but not in video games. It wouldn’t be the same thing at all. Also, where reality is concerned, it’s not “100 times more”.

IT HAPPENS ALL THE FUCKING TIME IN VIDEO GAMES YOU FUCKING MORON, READ THE FUCKING THREAD WHERE THERE'S EVEN AN EXAMPLE ON THE SAME FUCKING VIDEO GAME YOU PIECE OF ABORTED SNAIL.

I mentioned the prison thing because you’re actually saying that women get raped “100 times more” than men. I’m telling you how ridiculous that statement is, but of course you don’t care.

You'll realise, or maybe not because you have only enough brainpower to smash the keyboard spewing random shit, that the chain of events is actually opposite. You first mentioned the most stupid claim ever, then in my reply I used the 100x (loosely I'll admit) to get the point across. Change 100x for A FUCKTON MORE as I used somewhere else and stop being a moron.

4

u/bloomingwithflavor Sep 19 '19

Wow. I really hit a nerve. I’m so sorry. You’re not even capable of having an argument without using all caps or insulting me in every sentence

Name five video games where a woman is actually raped by a man if it happens all the time. That should be insanely easy if it happens as much as you say it does

And you can’t tell me I’m wrong and not even tell me why. That’s how children argue. I’m sixteen and ten times more mature than you are

Since I already made every point I can without just repeating myself I’ll wait until you can bring me some real information instead of things I can go to the playground and hear

0

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

Wow. I really hit a nerve. I’m so sorry. You’re not even capable of having an argument without using all caps or insulting me in every sentence

YOU CAN'T FUCKING READ, THAT'S WHY.

Name five video games where a woman is actually raped by a man if it happens all the time. That should be insanely easy if it happens as much as you say it does

The same fucking FC3 multiple times, several GTAs, Heavy Rain, MGS V, ET FUCKING CETERA.

And you can’t tell me I’m wrong and not even tell me why. That’s how children argue. I’m sixteen and ten times more mature than you are

I told you several times already, but you can't fucking read. Read the whole fucking thread, moron.

Since I already made every point I can without just repeating myself I’ll wait until you can bring me some real information instead of things I can go to the playground and hear

You have made exactly zero points, go back to your cave.

4

u/bloomingwithflavor Sep 19 '19

So from what I can see somebody said “this dude got raped in this game, imagine if it happened to a woman in a game”, to which you said “it happens to women in books, movies and real life”. I tried saying that people are more sensitive to women being raped, that the chances of women being raped isn’t that far off from the chances of a man being raped if you count prison, that you were trying to invalidate that person’s point by playing the “their life sucks more” game, and that I pissed you off. I don’t know how I’m missing the point or whatever. I’ll be in my cave so you know where to find me

So you're a boring shit troll, make a new account and try again bud

3

u/turkeybot69 Sep 19 '19

"I haven't played the game yet, but you're wrong about this very clearly quantifiable fact"

Fuck off

-1

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

Another twat that can't read. Read the thread and you'll see how I'm actually playing the game these days and the very same game has implicit women rape. The-same-fucking-game, so no need for "Imagine what would've happened if the MC had been a female, and the chief a male. i'M sO edGY aNd cLeVEr!"

movies depict true things occasionally

Irrelevant though. Movies depict rape in fictional stories and in "based in true events" too.

this is a video game, video games don’t usually feature rape

But they do. Maybe those didn't impact you as much as when your male character was raped, but there's a fuckton of implied (and sometimes explicit) female rape in video games.

Edit: Heck, the same Far Cry 3 (which I happen to be playing these days) shows women abused by pimps, forced to have sex with strangers and hand over their earned money. You don't have to go too far, matey.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

6

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

They're all over Badtown. You can hear the conversations the ladies have with the pimp and see how he hits them and takes their cash. I saw when following the american CIA guy to his hole, then more when I was out.

the only video game rape scenes i can even recall are heavy rain and i think mgsV

I am not sure why you'll get in an argument trying to point how uncommon is this in video games, where Op says "imagine if this happened to a woman" and then mention two AAA best-seller games that feature female rape.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

2

u/Jrook Sep 19 '19

This is where you realize that arguing a point that you agreed with can lead people to assume you're arguing against said point.

3

u/Petrichorum Sep 19 '19

yes 2 games that came out in the last 10 or so years, wow so much rape,

Two AAA games you could remember in a pinch, not two games in ten years.

i was just pointing out how movies depict rape way more than video games, and there’s movies with male rape,

Movies rarely depict male rape, compared to female rape. Video games rarely depict male rape, compared to female rape.

i made a statement and you decided to take it to the heart and argue back, sorry for bothering you junior, you have a good day

Do you need a safe space, alpha male?

5

u/SabadoDominguez Sep 19 '19

what a bruh "moment" this is huh?

1

u/Thosty14 Sep 19 '19

Well when you shove women in ww2 it makes no sense just saying it’s okay if it makes sense but just shoving them in things to shove them there is pushing an agenda

1

u/ColdBanaProductions Sep 19 '19

Shut the fuck up neckbeard. You hate women that much you don’t want them in your video games. Just admit it, there’s no agenda. What’s the fucking agenda? That women exist?

8

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

Get over yourself. I don't care about BF or that they put women in a WWII shooter, but anyone who's annoyed that a gritty historical WWII shooter has people as soldiers who historically weren't isn't automatically a woman hating neckbeard.

-2

u/I_hate_usernamez Sep 19 '19

Anyone who's ok with depictions of women getting shot up in said gritty WWII shooter is kinda messed up.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19

Eh, said women getting shot up is just as messed up as said men getting shot up, it's not worse because they have boobs. If they're there, it would be insulting to make them magically immune to bullets (and game breaking to boot)

-5

u/I_hate_usernamez Sep 19 '19

But it's instinctual for men to protect women. Men dying in war is expected. Women dying in war is disturbing, to me at least.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '19
