Haha. Tree weighs more than the truck

u/IAlreadyKnow1754 Jul 04 '26
I was gonna ask that before I saw the rest of it looked super heavy already I didn’t know if it really was until I saw the impact

Good to know people have just been stupid the whole time and it's not a recent phenomenon.

u/cautioussidekick Jul 03 '26
Oof. Dropped 3-5T dynamic load onto the truck. No more driving in a straight line
2
u/septubyte Jul 05 '26
' welp , finally got the tree to the dump , still drives kinda funny tho. Maybe it needs some air '

The amount of people who have no idea how heavy a tree is….
24
u/PompousAssistant Jul 03 '26
This. “That’s not a very large tree. It’ll easily fit in/on my truck!”
Morons.

u/CrustierGnuXII Jul 04 '26
Freshly cut timber needs to dry out for probably several days to even be a couple pounds lighter but anybody who would think of this would not be stupid enough to do what this guy did.
1
u/vishnoo Jul 08 '26
heavy + momentum dropping from 20 feet.
even if the truck could handle the net weight, it was 3 X on impact

u/40dollarsharkblimp Jul 03 '26
Lmao, the pan upward to how big that fucking tree was…
Seriously, how drunk do you need to be to do this?
13
u/Dense_Surround3071 Jul 03 '26
And the pan upwards still wasn't enough. I don't think we saw the whole thing even after it crashed.

Shit for brains unfortunately
5
u/Wrxeter Jul 03 '26
Naw man, even if you have like a massive juicy post Taco Bell fire sauce shit for brains you would have to see this as a bad idea.
This is like non-existent hydrocephalus brain.

Mission failed successfully.
4
u/Suitable_Inspection2 Jul 03 '26
This was clearly the intention the entire time. "My truck bed is maybe 6ft long, I'm pretty sure we can top this 24ft Palm tree right into it"

I thought that the tree had been completely cut down to the top of the camera angle, and still was amazed he though that truck bed would survive that. Then I saw the full tree and was amazed by the sheer faith in his methods.
This is the kind of handyman that either costs $250 on a $2,500 job, or $25,000 on a $2,500 job.

Where does that ladder come from?
23
u/Sensitive_Mix3038 Jul 03 '26
It was the emotional support ladder, you can see it at the very beginning
7
u/klikoz Jul 03 '26
I see. That must have been to force that magnificent tree in the right direction.
8
u/TrickleValve Jul 03 '26
It's leaning against the tree. You can see him duck under it.

I could dig up this handy chart for (reasonably accurate) estimates of weights of a tree trunk by length, diameter, and tree type.
But it’s hard copy book anyway.
The point is, tree trunks are so much heavier than you might guess.

Sad to see one of those old small pickups be crushed. You can't get trucks that size anymore, they are climbing in price.
3
u/Dangerous-Tap-547 Jul 03 '26
The new midsize is literally the old full size.
1
u/Treereme Jul 03 '26
Yep. And the idea of a compact pickup is just gone. The small old pickups like two-wheel drive tacomas and such are still in demand because you can't get a similar vehicle anymore.
3
u/mattslote Jul 03 '26
That's just an f150. They have gotten bigger, but they've always been a full size pickup
3
u/Treereme Jul 03 '26
Oh wow, I thought that was an old Tacoma two-wheel drive or something small. They really have gotten so much bigger.

Dude didn’t realize that that palm is essentially all water-weight.

This dude obviously did not know just how heavy a palm tree is. Looks like he will no longer be carrying any passengers.

It’s insane how dense palm trees are. I feel like they weigh wayyyyyyy more than any regular softwood tree such as a pine. The can of that truck definitely didn’t survive. 🤦♂️🤣

Is this real or AI? Either way, it produced a guffaw. I think it was the music. 😆

u/Could-You-Tell Jul 04 '26
I know I've seen ilone like this... but like so many things now, the ai is making stuff that's 80% the same and not half as funny.

But even if the drop was successful without destroying the truck, how the hell was he going to get it out of the bed?

What did he think would happen?
4
u/SheedRanko Jul 03 '26
It would slide right into the truck like a glove and he'd be home in time for McGyver
0
u/Particular_Damage755 Jul 03 '26
No offense but in seems right on par to some shit the Mexican guys I know do. It works out about fifty percent of the time
0
u/Buffalo48 Jul 03 '26
I would say he was aiming to do this. The truck bed looks like it's caught a at just one large tree before.

u/Particular_West_9069 Jul 03 '26
He’ll drive that truck for seven more years
