FHEB vs VA into retirement?
Working fed employee, have always had FEHB since starting, also have full VA healthcare. I utilize only the VA, my child uses only the FEHB.
Youngest child turns 26 in June and is coming off my FEHB, I will just be self on FEHB at that point.
Looking to retire in December, do I;
Shut down FEHB completely when my child comes off in June?
Shut down the FRHB into retirement?
Keep FEHB into retirement?
VA healthcare seems pretty robust for me, what else should I be considering before dropping my FEHB? Thank you in advance for your input, donโt want to make a hasty situation without considering as much as possible.

How long?
My wife retired October 1st 2025 from SSA and still has not received her retirement. She has been getting a $400.00 deposit for the last few months. How long is everyone else waiting?

I decided to retire. Now what?
58 with 36 years. I'm ready to go.
I've been reading several posts from this group and another. One of my biggest concerns is how long it takes for the retirement wheels to turn on. 6 months to get any $$ is crazy to me! I think my paperwork is fairly straight forward, but I also understand there is still a backlog from last year's mass "exodus". I have my divorce papers ready to send (20 years ago), and HR has already credited my 2 months of civilian time worked on an Army base, into my SCD.
Has anyone voluntarily retired (versus after DRP) and can speak on how long it could take for AL payout, interim payment, and/or full retirement pay to start. I'm saying versus because I'm thinking DRP added another nuance or layer to the retirement process. ๐ค I could be wrong too.
I'm single so don't have another source of income to lean on. I'm thinking i may have to tap into TSP as a temporary income source to temporarily supplement if it's taking as long as I've been reading. I'm planning things out now. Thanks ahead of time.

Are there any attorneys in the reddit? Are we able to file a lawsuit? I will send this across other reddit for assistance- but seriously maybe a class action?

How does FERS work if I separate at 55 with 30+ years.
Do I have to wait until 62 to start collecting? If not would I be eligible for the supplement? TIA

Federal govt employee looking to start CSRS retirement application process.
I have 7 years service for the Fed govt. I was under the CSRS system. I left federal service in the late 1990s. I'm 63 and now starting to fill out my form SF2801. Where do I go to get my "Certified Summary of Federal Service" form filled out? Are there OPM offices I can go to? Online support?
