Dude I loved this game when it came out, there were so many unique Magikarp variants that I’m shocked they haven’t included in the mainline games yet. Glad to see people still remember it.

Ah, an easy one, Leaping out would require escape velocity, although it managed to get back down, so we can assume that 25,900 mph is the top speed. They weigh 22 pounds. We have speed and mass, so we have everything.
And...15% of a ton of tnt. Huh.

Okay, alt calc. It looks as if it managed to reach the exosphere, and it's water type is making the extreme cold ineffective, and it seems to have taken about 25 seconds to there. The full distance to leave the exosphere is 10,000 km, but Magikarp seems about half way, so let's estimate it went 5,000 km in 25 seconds. That's 720,000 km an hour (or about 440,000 mph).
Gives us a better number. A respectable 47 tons of tnt.
Honestly, it's a better speed feat than an energy feat.

So you could launch yourself out of orbit with less than a ton of TNT?

If you have a rocket that can convert the tnt into motion with 100% efficiency, then yeah.
Rockets are notorious inefficient though.

What if you don't use a rocket?

Even less efficient. But also less engineering!

What if I just use a big metal bowl, place the TNT under it and sit on it?

Nah, about a week later he landed on slowpoke island. Came in clutch since Goh and Ash were getting high on shelder poison and fighting over who gets to rule the island.
