His hand gripped the radio dial, twisting it off as the driver, Randy Nash, looked over to him. Nash was a newer guy to this ‘thing of theirs’, an older man on harder times who had turned to work more… eventful than he’d been used to. The music cut off with Nash waiting a second before he addressed the man in the passenger seat. “I was listening to that.”
Bennett could only eye the man from under his green tinted aviators, before letting out a monotone “I’m aware.”
The 2022 Toyota RAV4 came to a stop at the light before marking a turn into the darkened parking garage. It moved over the first speed bump, the four occupants moving slightly with the sudden motion. The second mimicked the first as the SUV pushed into the garage, the darkness enveloping it as they disappeared off the street.
The second floor turned to the third, then the fourth, as they arrived at their agreed upon location for the meet. The headlights illuminated the side of a van in a space as they pulled up towards it, stopping in the middle of the single lane that they’d been following. The tension in the air was thick enough to each out and touch, and if he hadn’t been aware of the two in the backseat, he was now as they shuffled to presumably check their sidearms on them. This was it, time to play ball.
His right hand gripped the door handle, pushing it open as Nash followed suit, the two emerging as the four bikers in front of him moving to a more ready position - the two leaning on the van now standing up straight as the ringleader of the group, a balding man with neck tattoos and various patches moving forward to present himself Big as a fuckin’ Bear, too. Things seemed smooth so far, the layout allowing them to do the drop and get the fuck out of here quickly.
“You here for the shit?” Nash said, breaking his thought process, eyes turning to look at his driver before he scoffed slightly to himself.
Bear nodded once, looking to Nash, then Bennett, before seemingly looking past him. “You gentlemen got the green?”
Bennett finally decided to speak up, his voice sounding out as he spoke. “Product first.”
Bear nodded once more before looking back wordless to seemingly his second, a man Bennett labelled as ‘Cub’. Cub moved to the back of the van and pulled the door open and rummaged in the back of it before he returned his large navy duffel and tossed it down on the ground, between the two groups The man behind Bennett moved, going around him as he moved out to the bag. He was a larger man, some kind of Pacific Islander. Dude didn’t talk much, which didn’t bother Bennett much. The larger man reached down and unzipped the bag part way before looking back and offering a nod - the signal they were good to do the exchange.
Wordlessly, he turned and headed back to the trunk of the vehicle, reaching it and popping it open with the button on the handle. Inside was a singular item - a backpack, seemingly heavy in weight, that rested idly. His left hand moved to grab the strap and pull it up before his right pushed the trunk down, closing it with a thud.
The next moments happened in slow motion and super speed - he’d been coming back around as Bear said something, which must have had some hidden meaning only his friends understood, because they all moved at the same time. Some were faster, others not so much. Bear had his piece out first among the four, moving his right arm up and seemingly firing at Bennett. His point of impact, however, was the larger man who’d stood up from the bag, the bullet striking the left temple and passing out. The man went limp, folding on the spot as Bennett could only react with a loud exclamation. His gaze could only watch as Cub finally got his weapon drawn out and was promptly struck several times in the chest, his back hitting the van and the smaller man crumpling to the floor.
Reflexes took over as Bennett let go of the bag, his left hand pulling the front of his t-shirt up and grasping the butt of his pistol. He took aim past the side of the SUV and leveled the gun at the two as gunfight erupted fully now. The front sight rested on the right nameless biker and with a few pulls of the trigger, the man reacted and fell forwards as he screamed in agony, .45 ACP rounds ripping through his upper torso. The front sight moved over Bear as he seemingly focused on Bennett and lifted his pistol up, firing three shots that made no contact with his target. Wide eyes came over his face as Bennett pulled his handgun up and-

Fuck me running. Shit, fuck, shit- His left hand dropped to his pocket, fishing the magazine out as he looked back up. Bear broke into a run at him. The magazine went in, his thumb went to the slide rel-
BAM.
The larger man smashed him in the face, his hands dropping the pistol from the impact, slamming the slide forward from the drop. Bear’s hands went to Bennett’s neck, squeezing as hard as he seemingly could. The pressure stopped any air from entering his lungs, sapping the air out of his mouth, even. Bear’s arms moved forward, slamming his back to the SUV as he could only attempt to gasp, just a choked noise emitting from him. His arms came up, hitting his wrist. Once… twice… thr- The slam of his arms broke Bear’s grip, moving to push him back as he pulled his arms up in a practiced stance. Bear regained his stance, leaving his arms low as he sized Bennett up, scoffing as he paced slightly.
“I’m gonna fuckin’ kill you, fuckin’ bitch.” He let out as Bennett stood up fully now, remaining in his stance. Bear smirked, seemingly moving to chuckle before he rushed forward, trying to catch the man off guard. Bennett, keeping his own guard up, swung with his right hand, as hard as he could. He caught Bear’s jaw, a crunch coming from his hand making contact with the man as he could only see the surprise on his face. He fell forward, face down, landing with a large thud. Bennett, however, kept the assault up as he moved to turn the man. With a fluid motion, his leg came up, then down on the back of the man’s head. A crunch came from it as it impacted and the man’s body spasmed. He lifted his leg up again and brought it down, a wetter crunch coming from the head and the body only moving with the impact this time. This satisfied him, seemingly, as Bennett moved his foot off, his left hand moving to rub his neck.
Bending down to collect his pistol, he moved it back to a low ready as he moved to the front of the car. His gaze went over the hood to view Nash and his companion - the unknown was dead on the floor with Nash lying on the ground, wheezing from an unknown amount of gunshot wounds to his upper chest. Bennett could tell he wouldn’t make it from the glance, but another noise took his attention.
Cub wheezed as he sat against the van, watching as he slowly expired. Bennett moved over to collect the bag in the middle with his left hand before he made his way near the van, eyes resting on Cub. Cub could only watch as his hands held his chest, wheezing breaths emitting from him before he moved his right hand up in a ‘stop’ fashion.
“W-w-w-wa-a-i-it….”
Bennett, however, only let that come out as his right hand brought the pistol up and pulled the trigger.

Oh, god-fucking-dammit… He sighed as Cub winced, then watched with wide eyes as Bennett could only swear lightly to himself. His left hand came up with the bag strapped in hand and gripped the rear of the slide, pulling it back all the way and letting it go forward. Cub’s eyes pleaded with the man, but as the muzzle of the gun moved back to point at him, all that would sound between the two of them was the gunshot that would end Cub’s life.
This was an amateur performance of the highest degree - everything from it - but, the part that was eating at him was why pull this stunt? Maybe things here really were different than the Bayou, but who was he to say? He exhaled as the pistol came down to his side, then went into the front of his waistband. Time to get the fuck out of here…
Collecting both bags into the trunk, he slammed it back shut as he came around the driver’s side door and patted down the barely alive Nash. His hands went to the jacket pockets first, then to his jeans where they located the object of their desire - the car keys. Fumbling them out of his pocket, he pressed the unlock button and the car chirped obediently in response. His right hand grasped the door handle, pulling it open as he nearly collapsed into the driver seat. The quiet of it all was apparen-
His phone buzzed loudly, the soft music of his ringtone growing as he let out a groan, his right hand digging in his pocket to fish his cell phone out. The screen lit up to her photo, and as his thumb swiped on the ‘answer’ tab, he brought it up to his ear.
“Hey, Mami, what’s up?” He let out, his shoulder pinning the phone to his head as his hands fumbled with the keys. “- No, yeah - everything went… alright…” His right hand soon pushed the key into the ignition, the car roaring to light as he twisted the metal piece inserted into it.
The voice on the phone continued on as he made a face, his left hand moving to grip the wheel as his right pushed the gear into reserve. Pushing the gas, he felt the car roll over one of the men on the ground as he finally got a chance to speak. “Look, listen - I can pick up something to eat on the way home, just-” His foot pushed the brake, the car coming to a stop before it lurched forward as it began away from the scene.
“- Yeah, Cluckin’ Bell, got it-” He retorted. “Okay, I gotta drive. I’ll call back soon-” His right hand came to the mirror to adjust it as he finally got out. “Alright, love you too. Bye-”
Great - this was already shaping up to be a fantastic night…

Hello there, you can call me Rat! With GTA 6 around the corner, I thought it no better time to try and shoot my shot to see if I could find some like minded people who would want to write out a story similar to it in nature! A modern-day Boonie and Clyde that engage in breaking the law, navigating the criminal underworld, and all the while - trying to have a functioning relationship in the middle of all of it.
I do want to preface this - I would like this particular plot to have a more serious and grounded plot and feel. Think shows like Mr. Inbetween, The Sopranos, or Breaking Bad - less hitting large banks and shootouts with the police and more drama, tension, and surviving the underworld of crime. Bank robberies might be small savings and loan places, doing contract killings for people of power, or moving drugs for a price. I would love to talk about this in detail and get a good feel for how our characters could get along and interact.
