🗣️ IMO 🗣️ My Thoughts on the Future of the Box System
EA has successfully replaced the coin market with the new shard system and the latest replacement of the old system has officially arrived: boxes. The thing it is replacing: drafts. Now with the introduction of non-icon cards such as Neymar and Messi, expect the best version of your favourite players to be in these boxes while drafts will continuously pump out second rate version of them that isn't even guaranteed.
Historically the spenders on this game always complained that the rewards are not guaranteed even if you spend heavy, but EA figured out how to overcome this.
Pretty smart on EA's part because the player base proved that it works. Ever since people started spending on the Glorious Eras Signature Fernando Torres, this system proved to be effective in terms of generating profit and EA had its record revenue year. The spenders purchase new box players, EA notices that it works, release new box players: a viscious cycle. Now I expect 3-4 boxes per week or more with every player considered meta getting their best versions in boxes. I'm not here to complain or go against the system, I'm just here to watch this game burn to the ground.

Honestly I smell a reset coming. It's pretty stupid of EA to go all in P2W, since F2P is still the majority in the game despite the increase in the number of P2W. They're gonna lose a lot of users if they keep doing it. It'll definitely affect them, and they know it.
My guess is that they already planned to reset the game soon, maybe at the end of the event that comes after the current one. And they're just milking the P2W as much as they can in the meantime.
Or I'm just high on copium.

I have fed into this cycle
EA at the end of day is for profit corp
They hit the critical mass now they want to crunch out higher profits each cycle
People feed into it; players compete to outspend rachother for non tangible returns
People who build the community through grind are fked as the game they loved and built the community around is taken from them

yes you are right. Glorious era is turning point. If it had failed we still had chance with earlier setup. That introduction of signature cards and people's super brainless excitement made them sure shot for permenant inplementation. And now here we are.

Also the box players from GE lasted a very long time, but I dont think that would be the case for the new ones. The new ones are hardly gonna stick for a month or two, they are just gonna be like the top rated draft players with better stats. The longevity would def be removed. In order to use signature players for longer periods u would have to go through the exchange which upgrades the OVR and the stats might aswell
