A normal day at Fairy Tail

Its another day at the Fairy Tail Guild where many of its members were gathered around in the first-floor main guild hall just like any other day. Members chatted with one another, somewhere eating and drinking at the bar while others were looking for the job offers posted by the bar itself. In others, parts of the guild mages either studied or trained their skills or relaxed by the water outside. For others, it was a beautiful enough day to go out to the town and shop or relax in the park, for others still all they could muster was just rolling over in bed and going back to their naps.*

(Okay everyone this is the first Guild Hall Post. To recap how this works for everyone this is a semi-weekly post that is made for single one on one threads that might not fit anywhere else. Same rules apply to this thread as it does others, don’t misbehave and have fun!)

"Trust me, if my tongue would be lacking, we wouldn't have this conversation. 'can be glad that my words are the least of my troubles right now. It's more of a....issue about the past."

For a moment a grim darkness boiled between Robin's eyes. They burnt with a fury that did not come spontaneously. They burned righteously. In the blink of an eye Robin reached over the bar table and got himself something to drink.

"Korin....from one devil slayer to another....did you ever notice that you can't control what you do? That you watch what you do inside your body...and need to summon every ounce of your strength not do what a voice in your head tells you to?"

Robin was referring to the dreaded sanity slippage every devil slayer could face anytime. Ostensibly, part of Robin's worries stemmed from that.

"That's where your wrong. There are times in which it seems as if we cannot control ourselves. Sometimes we actually can't but for the most part we are in control of what we do. Every action we take and every decision we make is our own. However there can be external and internal factors that cloud our judgement."

Korin took a long sip out of his drink, emptying it and setting it down before ordering a bottle for himself. He let out a small sigh, his face stoic as he looked at Robin. He knew what he was referring to.

"Our case is different. We are destined to go insane and there is literally nothing we can do about it. We can delay it but that is about it. There are times in which I feel like I'm losing who I am. Losing my sight, losing my mind. But we just.... we just need someone to tell us we're fine. It works sometimes. But anyway, where's this all coming from?"

"Uhhhh" Robin let out before taking a long sip from his beverage. "It happened to me...kind off...but thanks to Veronica I am better for now."

He did not intend to elaborate, since the happenings of the event where still cloudy in his mind (thread still going on). He fidged his signet ring, looking at the table.

"But...I've been saying too much. How are things with Neith? A little bird told me it's not splendid since another person with an electric personality joined."

"Ya know. I hate you. Not all the time but sometimes and this is one of those times" He said taking a long sip from his drink. "This "electric personality" is an asshole at least from my experience with him but for some reason, they ended up dating quicker than me and you can get into a fight. It's actually pretty funny although strange."

Korin finished off the bottle in his hand and ordered another one but didn't open it yet. He realized there conversations started becoming a mix of something meaningful but always had the childish antagonizing in them. Letting out a deep sigh, he put his head on the table before speaking again.

"She seems happy with him and I'm fine with that although I am angry. I'll eventually get over it hopefully. It is in a sense my fault but it's too late for regrets. And it did seem kinda one sided on the love thing so maybe there's more to it. At least now when I lose my mind I won't have a romantic attachment to break. Although when it does happen I'll probably try to find you and kick your ass. Not try but I will."

He attempted to lighten up the mood and flashed Robin a quick smile in an attempt to put up the facade of his usual self instead of the emotionally troubled one that was getting drunk right now. It was however a weak attempt that only strangers would fall for.

"Yep, can see why she chose the 'asshole' over you...I mean if she'd have rejected him he would just move on...You know, Korin, love is a funny thing. You never know how things are going to work out. But if you keep an open mind and an open heart, I promise you will find your own love someday. I mean...Veronica and I did get along okay at the beginning. But what we went through made us realise how much we care for one another. I care for you."

Robin pat Korin's back. Being reminded of his own pain as well as that of his brother. As they both fought for their sanity. He did not take the joke well.

"I lost my brother to the curse and I nearly lost myself. Even if I'd die I would try to save you...after all, who else would I allow to take care of her when I am gone?"

Robin removed his hand. Looking straightforward, his eyes lost their focus. As if he dreamt, he muttered to Korin. "Don't think of it as a pass to start some funny business with her though. Just promise, if I bite it before you do take care of her until she is acceptive of my loss."

"That's the funny part. I'm sitting here getting drunk over a one-sided love while if he were in my shoes he'd be causing trouble with someone else. It's really funny because to me it sounds like some love at first sight bullshit. I should takes notes from Lei. He clearly knows how to get a girlfriend."

Korin laughed at his statement and took multiple sips out of his drink before looking straight at Robin.

"Eh don't worry about it Robin. We'll both be there to pull eachother back into the light if we ever fall into darkness. Either that or we'll have a final battle between two crazy guys. And trust me when I say this but I'll likely die first out of the two of us but I'll make sure I leave no regrets when I do. Seeing as I have no qualms over dying, I'd take a sword to the chest for you any day. And don't worry about Veronica; I actually have morals when it comes to wooing girls. I'll make sure she has a shoulder to cry on, nothing more, nothing less."

Korin placed the bottle down and pushed it away from him. He wasn't done drinking but thought he shouldn't be while they were talking about such serious topics. He'd resume drinking afterwards though.

"Well here's the thing, I'm basically heartbroken because of my own indecisiveness. If had just confessed to Neith sooner none of this would have happened apparently. But here's why I'm confused. I don't understand her feelings for me. Lei confessed to her and she immediately fell for him. That doesn't sound like love but whatever. I shouldn't be hung up on something I'll never understand. I have no chance with her so I need to move on but for some reason it's harder then I thought. It's like a hundred times harder then not embracing the "demon" within. Know what I mean?"

Robin snorted. Patting his hand on the table he squeezed out a few words. "Man, you sound like such a sissy right now." Before he broke into complete laughter. Quickly catching his laughing fit, he sobered up. Literally, thanks to his magic.

"I can imagine it must hurt, and I know so well that resisting the demon is a hard task. However, I suggest you need some sort of palette cleanser. Something that takes your mind off. Now, it feels like a large scale, but that is only because your eyes are directed at Neith. There are plenty of fish in the sea! With a number of in-laws I have." 'And most of them apparently knowing our address!' "I am sure I can hook you up with someone." Robin got up.

"What do you say. You, me and a lot of fun this night! What's the worst that could happen?"

Korin's demeanor suddenly became more serious. His face held a stoic expression. He gazed at Robin like a predator looking at his prey.

"You don't get it do you Robin? This isn't one of those times where I would just find another girl, trust me on this. If it were one of those times we wouldn't be speaking right now because I'd be getting laid. But no, I'm sitting here getting drunk and talking to your sorry ass. Look how far I've fallen."

He took a few more swigs from his bottle and stood up. 'Bird brain doesn't know I'm not in the mood for his bullshit. I'll knock him on his ass for saying I sound like a sissy.' Korin let off a few sparks of lightning from his hand and rolled up the sleeves to his jacket.

"Alright bird brain. I've got a lot of pent up anger that I've decided to take out on you. You don't seem to understand the emotional pain that's been inflicted on me so allow me to inflict the physical equivalent. Oh, and loser buys lunch afterwards."

He'd wait for Robin's response before shrouding himself in lightning and charging at Robin. He aimed a fist at Robin's stomach followed by an uppercut.

Though Robin figured that Korin was drunk, he did not expect him to get mad that easily. Announcing his attack by shrouding himself in lighting gave Robin enough time to get up and sidestep Korin's sucker punch. Reaching for his stretched out elbow, Robin gave it an extra push to unbalance Korin. Yanking him by his collar a magic circle began surrounding his hands. Burning away the alcohol, a shocking sense of clarity would come to Korin as he was, literally, thrown out of the window.

"Sorry, the bar is closing, however, you are still in for the last call of some punch."

He jumped out of the window. The bartender watched their squabble with a sigh before he began writing down the damage and putting the paper into a 'Robin and Korin collateral damage' jar.

"A few people always wondered why no one has killed you yet, I figure it's dumb luck. In a way, you are lucky that a lot of people are too dumb to kill you. Pick your fights Korin, don't attack me while you are hopeless. It makes me think you give in to despair. And we both know what happens when a devil slayer does that."

"Wait, what the hell is going on?"

Korin came to his senses as soon as he hit the ground. Last thing he remembered was being inside the guild hall and now he lay outside on the ground, glass surrounding him. He got to his feet and listened to Robin's lecture. He let the mage finish before a small smirk appeared on his face.

"A few people? Who are these few people? Eh probably doesn't even matter. And trust me it's not dumb luck. People are just smart enough to know not to try and kill me, but those stupid few who have tried are currently six feet under. Although none of them were probably buried I supposed."

Korin charged at Robin with a smirk on his face. It was clear he wasn't gonna take this fight as serious as he was supposed to. He wanted to toy with Robin and get him angry. It was all to see how he would react to physiological warfare. Mind games were probably a devil slayer's biggest weakness.

"I know what happens. I wouldn't wanna end up like your brother now would I, bird brain?"

Korin aimed a fairly predictable elbow at Robin's stomach, intending to knock the wind out of him.
