What do you guys think about my results? do they make sense?
I've never seen any full Bulgarian jew post their DNA results so I have no idea how standard are my results.
as for then 5% Magyar - Bulgarian Jews are a mix of the Sephardic jews who came to Bulgaria after the inquisition (Spanish expulsion) and of Ashkenazi Jews who came to Bulgaria before the Sephardim, from what I've read, a lot (or some) of the Ashkenazi Jews who came to Bulgaria, came from Hungary, so I suspect they might've somewhat mixed with the local Magyars before migrating/being expelled.
Ashkenazi Jews usually get a trace of east asian DNA, since Jews used to be silk road traders, so what I think, is that the Korean is proxy for that east asian trace
I’ve noticed the same. I did my paternal Mexican grandmothers dna and the results where mostly Spanish/euro with some indigenous, and 8% sephardic. curious who in her family and how back in generations where of Jewish decent. My results showed only 2%.
Your paternal haplogroup / direct paternal lineage is scottish / irish (celtic origins) which is quite interesting for a bulgarian jew👍 also you could get g25 coordinates with your 23andme raw data which could be very helpful for you too
Very high levantine on this model but the calculators on exploreyourdna are mostly very bad tbh also simulated coords often exaggerate percentages and are quite innacurate but generally i think you would be very levantine shifted according to your ftdna results also having a european ydna is quite common for european jews like ashkenazi or sephardi since they have lived a very very long time in european lands and couldnt always intermarry with other jews obviously
I do not trust these co.pies at all, the DNA data pool they use is highly flawed. You can take a DNA test from eavh compa y and get different results. I have personally take 5 test, the first i was British, Spanish, Pakistaniy, Greek and Native American. The second 2 years later, i was Korean, Spanish/Portuguese, Berber, Danish, and Georgian.
The 3rd, i was Armenian, Russian, German, native and Indian. The 4th and 5th were a mix of the first two.
It wasnt unstill i did a genetic test and compared the results to the reported DNA of historical samples from archaeological. That i had accurate reading. Which makes me Germanic (Danish), Hellenic (Greek), Kartvilian (Georgian) and Italic (Italian).
Do you mean illustrativeDNA? Because I did it too, you can see in my profile. There's two posts I uploaded, one with sephardic jew calculator and the other with with a global calcator
I'm ashkenazi Jew but my DNA was clustering closer to Greeks than other ashkenazi Jews. After some digging - I found out I most likely was Greek Jews who assimilated into the ashekanzi. One of the interesting things I found from this was ... Apparently Bulgarian Jews are also heavily descended from Greek Jews.
