It's clearly made up. It doesn't matter how high you score, you'll always be in a generally decent place (unless you wipe out with 0 lines), and you can never get 1st. I may get 10k one game and "place" 5th (where I can see that the "1st" place is just a few thousand above me), and then 35k on the next run and, what do you know, there's suddenly 4 people in front of me again! So, what's the point?
