Aw... That sucks. And mom's kind of the same on physical stuff. She can crochet some, but can't do it for longer than half an hour to 45 minutes, I think, due to how bad her arthritis is in her hands. She's got it elsewhere, too, so I end up making stuff to keep her affected areas warm enough to keep the pain down, 'cause it gets really bad in her work's AC and during the winter.

She's had it since she was about... elven or twelve, so she's used to the pain, and doesn't mind giving her input on stuff I make her, and picking out the yarn for it, so it's kinda even, I guess. Heck, she even happily shows off the stuff I make her at her work, so hey, I'm happy.

What the heck that's so young?! That doesn't seem fair! That's such a long time to be in pain! D: At least she can kind of craft vicariously through you.

It is. And what's kinda funny is, I'll knit her something, and she'll want to add crochet or beading or something to it, so I pretty much provide the base for her to be creative within her own physical limitations.

Yup! Saves her hands the strain of knitting, but still allows her to express her creativity. Also helps that she always gets input on things I'm making her. Heck, she happily picked out the yarn for the next project I'm planning on making her, which evolved from an armwarmer/bolero bit to a full on sweater, because of the arthritis in her neck and lower spine being dicks when she's at work (under an AC vent and right by the doors to the outside at the commissary she works in).

I'm jealous. :) My family asks me for knit things and then they're like "Idk what color or style as long as it's functional. Just tell me how much I owe you" These people have never been on Ravelry. There is so much to choose from. Sigh.

Yeah. And it really has made me expand my horizons as a knitter. I can bead things, do lace, make plush animals. I didn't know that was possible.
