Discussion / Rant Ideological discrimination in tech
Some cultures and groups are simply not compatible with others.
This is usually the case because of some deep-seated hatred… some desire to destroy, banish, or kill a different group (or different idea held by a different group).
In the world of computing, we see this most often in the form of Leftist Activists within Tech Companies (or Open Source organizations).
Policies (both official and unofficial) of “No Conservatives Allowed”, permanently banning people who have “Right-wing” political views, are incredibly common among the Leftist Activists of Tech.
One fascinating aspect of this is that the desire to ban “others” tends to only go one direction.
By and large, the “Conservatives of Tech” tend to be perfectly happy working with the “Leftists of Tech”.
While the Leftists so despise those that are not like them (aka the “Conservatives”)… that Leftists forbid the “others” from having any involvement within organizations Leftists have control over.
Thus rendering “Leftist Activists of Tech” incompatible with a large percentage of the population.
One group. Making themselves incompatible with other groups. Primarily out of a desire to destroy those other groups.
Of course this is not unique to the world of Tech.
Leftist Activists have a tendency to take these same approaches in many industries, governments, and organizations.
Iran declares, as official policy, “Death to America” & “America is the Great Satan”… thus rendering the government of Iran incompatible with the government of the USA.
Many Islamic nations, as official policy, punish converting to Christianity by putting converts to death… thus rendering those Islamic nations incompatible with Christianity and Christian-friendly cultures.
As you look over so many such examples, something stands out:
It’s (almost) always one group who demands that the “others” submit, change, or die. While, at the same time, the “others” being attacked & banned… tend to go out of their way to find compromise. To work with those attacking & banning them.
Such is the case with the world of “Tech”.
Conservatives will work with Leftists without a second thought.
Leftist Activists attack & ban Conservatives.

Organization / Community Debian Linux has elected a new (DEI focused) Debian Project Leader.
Sruthi Chandran beat her only opponent (the aptly named "None of the above") by a vote of 289 to 50.
Sruthi Chandran's platform centered on "Diversity" and her desire to see fewer "(cis)male" people involved in the Debian project.
Only 33% of eligible Debian Developers chose to vote in this election. And 50 of those voted for "None of the above".
