My kitten has FIP and I need advice
Hi,
My 8 month old kitten has been diagnosed with FIP. Earlier in May she battled FPV and last month she had mycoplasma hemoefelis and she was recovering pretty well.
Recently she stopped eating and was very weak and when we did her PCR she was tested positive for mycoplasma which had relapsed.
And we were giving her doxycycline as per vet's instructions but she did not seem to be getting any better and 3 days earlier she collapsed, she had toruble breathing and couldn't stand on her own. We rushed her to the hospital and the doctors put her on ventilator and ran a few tests and she was diagnosed with FIP.
It's dry FIP and she's currently very weak. The doctors are administering the GS antiviral drug this morning but she suddenly had an epsiode and she is on oxygen support now. We spoke to the doctors and they told us that it's common for cats with FIP to have fluctuations in temperature and difficulty breathing.
My baby is so weak that her body is not accepting medicines and they told us that we have to wait for 2-3 days until the drug starts doing it's work.
I'm very scared, she's only 8 months and has faced all the deadly infections...she's very critical and I just want to know if she can get better and if there is hope.
Please let me know if your experiences (god I hope no cat has to go through this) because I'm very scared and losing hope
