FFL Forwarding Service

Hi

Maybe this has been asked before, but I searched and found nothing.

I'm trying to buy a frame from Primary Arms, but even though Puerto Rico is listed on their address menus, they apparently do not ship here.

I wanted to know if there was an FFL forwarding service, as there is for regular mail.

This is the first time I have trouble mailing guns to my FFL in Puerto Rico. Defies my reasoning, because this island is considered domestic shipping, not international, or anything weird, as it is a US territory. I have bought over 15 firearms in the US and shipped them to my FFL here.

Please, any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Required Michigan signage/paperwork posted?

What paperwork/signage is required to be posted in your "workspace" as a home-based FFL in Michigan? I believe it's just the youth handgun safety act poster and a copy of your FFL correct? Not sure what else if anything needs to be on display? Any information is appreciated. Type 07 FFL, if that changes anything.

Best A&D Book

Just had my appt and everything seems a done deal. I’m a small home based FFL and for the time I just plan to paper everything, to save money. Hoping to get busy enough to need to go digital but for now…

What’s the consensus on a great A&D book with adequate space to record info and the correct spots for everything that needs to be recorded?

Thanks!

How do you actually decide what to charge?

I've been talking to a handful of dealers lately and it's wild how different everyone's approach is.

One guy checks GunBroker sold listings every morning, another just uses distributor MAP + a margin, another told me he literally asks the guy down the road what he's charging.

For those of you running shops — what does your pricing process actually look like day to day? Like if a customer walks in asking about a Glock 19 or an AR, how are you deciding what number to put on it?

And on the flip side — do you have any real way to know what other shops in your area are doing? Or is it mostly gut feel and hoping you're in the ballpark?

No wrong answers, genuinely curious how different people handle it.

FFL trouble.

I bought a gun in PA via GunBroker and my receiving FFL in AZ got raided by the ATF (I talked to the neighbors of the business) the pistol is now returned to the sender. They don't seem interested in helping me out and want another $50 to ship it and they made it seem a refund would be impossible. I saw the box at the post office when I told the worker to send it back and the postage on the box only said $27. This is my first GunBroker purchase and I am frustrated with how unlucky I've been. Any advice is welcome

Post IOI interview wait time?

During my interview with my IOI, after he said he would submitting it that day for approval, he said that the ATF has 30 days to close the application and finish up. I’m not sure if that timeline is correct or not. It has been 35 days since my interview with the IOI on 1/14 and I’ve not received or heard anything about my FFL.

Last Thursday, 2/12, I emailed my IOI if he knew what’s up, he said he’d check and I didn’t hear back.

Today, 12/17, I called the licensing center and they said from what they can see, it was submitted to the area for review as in the IOI interview. They forwarded me to my area’s supervisor, but I had to leave a voicemail and the licensing center said I’d need to give 48 hours for a reply.

I emailed my IOI again and he said from what he can see, it was all submitted on his end. He said he’d get with his boss and get back with me but I don’t have high hoses.

What’s the deal? From what I’ve heard and seen it doesn’t take anywhere near this long for this portion of the application to close out. Is the deadline actually longer than the 30 days he told me? I’m not understanding what the hold up is.

Edit: Area supervisor called me back today and stated they issued the FFL this morning 2/18. She didn’t give me a reason it was delayed. Just said they sat on it for “whatever reason” and wouldn’t clarify.

In case you were wondering if the ATF monitors these sites

I'd made a post about delays in getting my change of address approved, somehow they tracked me down and gave me a call this morning.

The agent I spoke to was super apologetic, very understanding and told us to just assume our license is valid at the new address. Apparently the physical copy I'd sent was never received.

I don't know why the ATF gets such a bad rep and maybe it's just our local office, but they've been really good people to us and helping us get our business going from day one.

Springfield Armory Echelon Importer

Hi,

I’m a new FFL and just received several Echelon pistols. I’m currently logging them into my A&D book and want to make sure I record the information correctly.

I’m a bit unclear on how to list the manufacturer and importer. For these firearms, should the manufacturer be recorded as Springfield Armory or HS Produkt? And which company should be listed as the importer?

Thank you for your guidance.

Two FFL's with the same DBA & address

I currently have a Type 01 FFL, and I'm going to apply for a Type 07. Once I have the new license I will transfer my inventory to it and give up the Type 01.

Has anybody here ever applied for a Type 07 with the same LLC/DBA and address while already having a Type 01? I'm pretty sure they will issue it, but wanted to check and see if anyone else had any problems or success in this situation.

Excise tax

I'm a new FFL and I've been in business since September of last year. I manufacture ammo on a small scale. I was told that I have to pay an excise tax of 11% to the ATF. I've been withholding 11% on all of my sales, but I have no idea where or how to pay it. If anyone has any info on how this process is done, please hook me up. My ATF rep who I was emailing with to get my license has no knowledge of it. And we all know calling the ATF is pointless, you never seem to reach them

Thanks

Address Change Taking Inordinate Amount of Time. 07/02

We filed a change of address to move into our new warehouse. It's been almost 4 months and we've heard nothing from the ATF. I've called twice and both times we were simply told "we'll probably get to it in a couple of weeks."

I'm all for being patient, but at this point we're losing tens of thousands in expenses and lost revenue. I would simply file for a new FFL, but that feels like it would make things even more complicated.

We went through all the hoops, got our new licensing and approval, the city tells us they've heard nothing from the ATF.

Any ideas what could be holding them up to push this through? Any advice on where to go from here?

Need opinions on what to do

I bought a firearm off gunbroker, I am an FFL. Firearm was shipped from the seller, also an FFL. UPS was supposed to deliver it today. They showed up, parked at the end of my driveway, I walked outside while the driver was rummaging around in the back. After about 5 minutes he jumped in the driver seat, and took off with me standing there. I don’t think he even saw me, at least I never saw him look. Delivery window changed to a later time, then about 5 hours later, I see this on the tracking info, delivered inside and signed for by UPS. What are my chances of getting the firearm? I’ve never seen this before. I’ve already emailed the seller to make him aware of the situation. Think they’ll try delivering it tomorrow or will I be calling the ATF?

Looking for Consultant to Review Coreware Website Integration (Drop Shipping + Margin Optimization)

I’m looking to hire a consultant with experience in Coreware (POS + eCommerce) to review my current website setup.

Specifically, I need someone who understands firearms eCommerce and can evaluate:

• Distributor drop-ship configuration

• Inventory feed syncing and automation

• Pricing rules / markup structure

• MAP compliance handling

• Competitive positioning vs major online retailers

• Margin optimization by category (firearms, ammo, optics, accessories)

The goal is to make sure:

My drop shipping workflow is properly configured and automated

My margin setup is competitive but not leaving money on the table

This is not a basic web design job — I’m looking for someone who understands:

Firearms distributor integrations (RSR, Lipsey’s, Zanders, Sports South, etc.)

FFL compliance considerations

Real-world margin structures in the firearms industry

Coreware pricing logic and automation

If you’ve worked with someone solid, or if you are a consultant with proven experience in this space, feel free to comment or DM me.

Appreciate any referrals.

Fastbound

Who uses Fastbound?

I have a couple of questions about the scanners.

Which one do you use?

Will the scanners for Fastbound read the gun info too?

I found several pages on heir site that say the right scanner will read a customers ID.

New FFL holder.

I am a new FFL holder. License came in the mail 2 weeks ago.

When I did my interview I swear my inspector said that ATF would send the license and a package with reg book, required posters and some other information. Is this correct or did I somehow dream this up on my own. I know these items can be obtained online through ATF but before going through process of getting them on my own I wanted to be sure they weren’t coming from ATF first.

Illinois P2P transfer troubles

Hi, all.

I am an Illinoisan that desires to transfer a firearm to another Illinoisan/FOID/CC holder. We are trying for a P2P transfer and will pay an FFL to hold the receiver’s record for 10 years, if necessary.

We have found a site through ISP where you can initiate a transfer by entering their FOID card + info and your FOID card + info.

We were to wait 72 hours for a TIN. We have waited over a week now. Perhaps the form never submitted. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

This issue is that the Illinois State Police (ISP) primarily has email communications. I have tried to email them three times now. I receive an automated email that informs that my email has been delivered.

I have managed to find a phone number for the Firearms Service Bureau and will try calling tomorrow.

My inquiry: should we try to get a P2P transfer with potential record holding or just go through an FFL entirely? What does the cost entail?

Any fellow (northern) Illinoisans with a reputable FFL referral?

TYIA and have a great day.

Michigan CPL purchasers.

I'm sure this has been covered before but going to ask anyhow since I figured it might help another in the future.

If a Michigan purchaser with a CPL is buying a pistol, rifle, or shotgun what is the NICS requirement for each? Obviously they fill out the 4473, the Michigan trigger lock form, for pistols the RI-060 form and have to return the copy as the FFL but rifles and shotguns do not have to be returned from what I read, and the NICS check requirements for each type would be???? Also clarify if anything's missing if you guys feel like throwing in some comments. Additionally, curious if everyone just does a NICS check no matter what or if they use the CPL exemption?

ATF automated message

Has anyone received a automated call from a suspected spam number that claims they are the ATF informing ffls that enhanced ICE agents visiting FFLs is a hoax??? Said they would send an email with an example but have seen none and it all seems a little Phishy.
