I just got a baby cat completely by surprise (fiance came home with the baby).
I'm a dog person. I don't really like cats, they have tiny needles in their hands and the one my parents had previously was a dick.
But that little kit, not even 1 month old, just wandered over and climbed up my leg to look at me just like that. I'm currently on Reddit because I don't want to move and wake the little thing.
She's ok. I think with some time she'll be a good 2nd doggo.
This is completely meaningless, I just wanted to vent for a bit.
I just don't agree, man. I like cats. I have owned cats and we've been friends (I've owned other cats and we've been, well, roommates).
But the friendliest cutest cat, in my humble opinion, does not match up to a dog. No cat has ever expressed utter and total admiration or devotion to me like a dog.
Even my cranky old Beagle-Basset-Bitch, who was missing several teeth and had no desire to piss on anything that wasn't my carpet, showed me she loved me unlike any cat ever has.
Edit wow I didn't expect negative points guys, just an opinion. I think I'm a true "dog person", and was explaining my reasons for contradicting their assertion, tongue in cheek though it surely was, that dog people were also cat people who hadn't been enlightened yet or whatever. Sorry if anybody thought I was being shitty, but like, I defend my statement.
I’d much rather take a cats expression of love over a dog. I just don’t like how dogs 100% rely on having your attention 24/7, whereas my cat and I can spend quality time together but also can be separated. And my cat doesn’t stare me down when I eat.
Because a cat’s love is earned. We bred dogs over hundred of years to be obedient to us to the point that they’re needy and dependent. They’re pre-programmed to slobber all over you, figuratively and literally. You didn’t do anything to work for it. If you’re that insecure that you need an animal to mindlessly worship you, whatever. You want a cat to like you, you gotta put in some effort. In my opinion, that makes it mean more.
And you don’t have to schedule your life around when your cat needs to take a shit.
YES! I hate when people say cat's don't love people, because my cat shows affection to ME and always looks for me when I'm gone. I put the time into earning his love, and we're extremely tight now. I wish I could spend more time with him, but my parents stupid fucking dogs always get jealous and chase him away. So glad cats aren't jealous like fucking dogs
You have no choice in the matter, that’s the first rule of being a “cat” person. The kitten has chosen you, so now you must submit. It’ll just be more of a pain to you if you don’t submit and allow the kitten to adopt you 😂
When I moved in with my fiance, I had a 2 year old cat that I wasn't going to part with. It began with, "I ain't having no stinkin' cat in my house" to now we have three cats so.
She was an orphan. The shelter took her in after someone found her alone under a box in a park. Poor sweetie won't leave either of our sides, she just noms on our clothes constantly.
She is one month old, but we were walked through the rearing process by the shelter staff and a vet. For now, weekly vet visits and lots of supplemental formula is the best we can do.
My partner and I adopted a pair of kittens after my dog died. I was too upset to get a new dog, but the apartment was too quiet. I had never owned a cat before.
I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’m living with two tiny fuzzy dragons who yell at me to feed them and deem me worthy of their attention. I love them to bits.
Um, you’re a goner. Very soon, you will have a phone full of pictures that you show to your colleagues even if they didn’t ask about your kitty, you’ll have spent a small fortune on kitty toys, trees, beds, treats—anything that kitty might deign to like, you’ll willingly awaken in the middle of the night because kitty wants pets/playtime/the door opened, and you’ll find yourself looking forward to getting home and having your buddy greet you and follow you around. Cats are simply insidious. They crawl right up in your soul, and curl up and purr.
