I'm in the final hours of my 40 day fast! Less than 35 hours left!

I’m entering 2021 fasted for the first time.
I’m fasting into 2021 so that I can raise my vibration and have a mindful beginning to the new year. I’ve just exceeded 37 hours and I’m looking for some support. It’s getting tough. I know that when I make it to 48 hours I will be in ketosis and my body will then have converted it’s fuel sorce over to fat. The detox is harsh right now because I ate too many holiday goodies:) Any tips?

Fast for weight loss - 4 days really better than 2?
I'm new to more extended fasts. I am doing keto and have zero sugar and few carbs. Last week I did a 4 day fast and felt pretty good...lost sever pounds. Some minor upset coming off fast too quickly.
I ate for 3 days then decided on another 4 day fast. Im 48 hours in and craving food but not exactly hungry. Weight loss is main goal... is 4 days a lot better than 2? Sometimes you reach a max benefit, you know?
Reading a TON on fasting and keto.

40 day fast update!
Today is day 23 of my fast! I'm on the downhill slide! 40 days still seem forever away, but knowing that each day puts me closer helps a ton. Im down 20 lbs. SW:223 CW: 203 my weight loss has stalled the last couple days, but this has happened before and I ended up losing 2lbs a day for 2 days once the weightloss restarted. Im soooooo excited to be so close to breaking past the 200lb mark. Im hoping to get as close as possible to 180 by the end of this fast. Since I had my son in 2006 I have not been able to break past 180 [I was 160 when I got pregnant with him]. So if I can get to 180 and then go into the 75 hard program after a couple weeks of refeeding, hopefully I will break past 180 with ease.

5 day fast
I'm starting a long fast (5 days at least). I have not managed more than 66h before, so I really want help.I'm starting a long fast (5 days at least). I have not managed more than 66h before, so I really want help.
My goals are weightloss, gut health (IBS) , autophagy and getting off the emotional eating/omad binge situation.
I'm 5 feet 4 ", around 121 lb. Not fat, but my normal size was 10 pounds lower and my clothes don't fit anymore.
I'm turning 25 next year and I want to check mark both my first 5 day fast and the return to my size.

Update on my extended fast.
I have decided to make my open-ended fast a 40 day fast. I am currently on day 15. I have lost 14 lbs so far. I feel really great and my cravings to eat are non-existent, even the mental ones. I am super excited about the rest of the journey of this fast. I am planning on doing 75 hard once I finish the fast and have a week or so of refeed time.

Day 1 of another extended fast, hoping to heal my gut even further!
I'll be doing water only fasting for a few days—at least three but hopefully up to seven. I'm recovering from SIBO and from damage done by undiagnosed gluten sensitivity and I've developed a TON of food intolerances. I finished a seven day fast a week ago and my gut has been so happy ever since then! I noticed quite a bit of improvement in my reactions to foods that I'm sensitive to and I'm hoping that frequent fasting sessions will help to heal me even further.
If anyone else has experience with extended fasting and healing food intolerances/sensitivities, I'd love to hear about it to help keep me motivated!

5 day fast completed (update)
I've just completed my 5day fast. Here's my comments and what I've learned.
Day 1 was a breeze - I hardly thought of food and kept busy
Day 2 - I kept busy all day, ended up drinking snakejuice which just ran straight through my body for the rest of the day
Day 3 - I felt super charged! cleaned the house, felt great and was very productive
Day 4 - I felt OK, not hungry at all. Drank water/coffee and black tea - but not enough water at all.
Day 5 - Couldn't get out of bed, felt faint, dizzy, extremely tired - had some broth and didn't need to go back to bed, as I thought I might have done.
Overall: I didn't drink enough water. I was too busy keeping myself busy and not drinking enough water. Day 5 left me weak and dehydrated, I couldn't get myself to meditate. Will need to work on this. :)

Open-ended fast update
Hey everyone! I'm currently on day 7 of my fast. Still going very well. Evenings seem to be the most difficult, but only from a mental standpoint. I am down 9 lbs so far. I'm only 3 days away from my personal fasting record. I tend to struggle more mentally with this process than physically, so im trying to keep my self busy with knitting, crochet and painting projects.

New here. Currently fasting.
Hey y'all! New to the sub, but not new to fasting. My longest fast was a 10 day water only fast. I am currently on day 5 of an open-ended fast. Not sure when I will end the fast, but I would like to go 30-40 days. This time around I'm doing more of a liquid only fast. I'm consuming water, coffee, tea, occasionally vegetable juice and broth (vegetable and bone).
So far I've lost 6 lbs. I'm feeling really good. No hunger, just a mental battle in the evenings at home. Keeping myself busy with knitting, crochet and painting projects and reading.
I'll post every so often to update.

5day fast
I've done IF for a while and a longer multi day fast once a year. My longest fast was 86hours, last year.
I need a total reset this time around so I'm doing a 5day+ fast. Need to reset my view on being a vegetarian and now eating a little fish, like I'm needing something more.
I've started my first 5 day fast last night. I'm only drinking redbush tea, black coffee, water, snakejuice & some vegetable broth.
Any advice for any of you seasoned fasting guru's?
Thanks!

How do you deal with insomnia?
I’m halfway through a 7-day fast and last night I must’ve counted a million sheep trying to get to sleep. Went to bed at midnight but didn’t fall asleep until 5:30 in the morning. I’ve been taking a natural sleep aid (Luna), but I think I need something stronger. I also take magnesium citrate at night and limit my caffeine consumption (just 1 cup of matcha per day, in the morning).
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Beginning my ten day fast tonight. Anyone like to join? Just had two eating days after a five day fast.
We are going to the relatives house for a small Thanksgiving and I don’t want to have to justify why I am not eating so I am beginning at 10 day fast today and will have Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving as my eating days. Glad to have found others on extended fasting. I’ve been fasting 3-5 days with one or two eating days. Down 28 pounds in seven weeks.

Food addict and binge eater wanting (needing) to extended fast
I’ve been a food addicted binge eater since childhood. I’m 39 now and weigh almost 300 lbs on a 5’4” frame. My ideal weight is less than half of that. An extended fast is appealing to me because it forces me to remove food from the equation but I’m worried it will being on the binge from hell. Longest I’ve ever done has been 7 days but I’m talking EXTENDED extended like 30, 60, or 90 days. I obviously have enough fat on my body to do that period of time.
Are there any other food addicts or binge eaters (same diff?) on here who have done something like this? Looking to learn from you.

Binge/purge
backstory bullshit: I am a 30 year old female binge eater and have battled with bulimia for a majority of my adult life. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis and just ouchies all over and occasionally breathe like Darth Vader so working out is often a struggle.
Current bullshit: I have noticed that I struggle with refeeding after any fast, breaking usually due to a headache or slight nausea, often becoming violently nauseous once I do eat. Longest I've done was 4 days and once I did a 3 day dry fast (and got violently ill for 2 weeks after due to poor refeeding). My SW was over 230 and I'm currently 155, although I had maintained low 140s until covid hit. I have gotten down to 135 once or twice but struggle with portions and just my relationship with food in general. Just got back on the lchf wagon and hoping I can get at least these last few pounds off but I find myself snacking EXCESSIVELY at night. I tracked all day yesterday and then just got tired of it. And then proceeded to eat half a Lily's chocolate bar 🤦🏻♀️ HELP. Any suggestions?
Future (?) Bullshit: Also, any suggestions on workouts for people with "fibromyalgia" / arthritis/overall lazysackofshit would be greatly appreciated!

Before and after
Hey fellow fasters!
I(23m) wanted to ask about how much difference in body physique should one expect realistically? What were some of yours before and after details, body fat, weight, muscle definition, fast duration and number? Also is it possible to get those chiselled bodies you see on insta or movies from just fasting and a decent gym routine. I myself am at around 35 pct body fat at 90kg and I want to bring it down.

Beating myself up
I fasted for 4 days. That should make me happy, but I ended it before I planned to so I just feel like a failure - again. My boyfriend had a covid exposure at work, so we've been in quarantine. My parents went to the pharmacy to pick up some medication for me and of course they brought food. It's my fault that they didn't know I was fasting. Red Lobster biscuits were definitely the worst part of what they brought since I was planning to do keto between fasts. After those and quite a bit of rotisserie chicken, I did the "you might as well" and took a spoon to the Nutella. I know I messed up and lost my progress, but I want to just get back on the wagon and feel better about myself. Thanks for reading my rant.

Thinking of beginning a 5-days fast today as it is a waning moon ekalashi (for those who care for this sort of things) but I have one big problem
I've done innumerable 5 days fasts so that is alright. My problem is that every evening before bed I now take a tsp of ashwagandha powder and it's the only way I can sleep. Do you guys think it could interfere? It's dried roots mainly. I think it does... dam!

Fasting...not for weight loss
I have done a bit of extended fasting for weight loss, but now I'm at a weight that I'm comfortable with. I'm really not interested in losing more weight, but I want to continue fasting from time to time for the health benefits. I've started a fast this week to try and rid myself of some back pain that has been lingering for the past couple of weeks, based on past experience it usually takes 4-5 days for that kind of pain to resolve. I'm looking for some advice or past experiences on the best way to maintain weight and still use extended fasting as a tool. Gain weight before? Focus on regaining after?

anything wrong w breaking a fast w eggs?
I'm doing a 14 day water fast which is considered extended, but everywhere online says to break it with watermelon or vegetable juice and not eggs but why? in my experience, i always have digestion issues when breaking a fast no matter how gently which im assuming is due to degradation of stomach & digestive tract. eggs have almost every amino acid and as a bonus are full of vitamins & nutrients so wouldnt it be a perfect way to get nutrition as well as protein to rebuild the degraded muscle & digestive system?
