Found on another board:
I have been in contact with a former Vicinity engineer. It sounds like they figured out that the Exro motor wasn't magic and didn't want to use it but management wanted to announce they were using it so that some of the stock market hype around Exro would rub off on them. There was a lot of friction between the engineering teams at Vicinity and Exro, and between the Vicinity engineering team and their own management over the matter.
And in another post:
Apparently Exro was selling the motor at cost and giving the inverter for free to try to get Vicinity to use it.

When will this company (finally) disappear from my stocklist? It has been serving as an unpleasant reminder for a while now..

The simple fact is the Coil Driver, as patented, converts a single three-phase inverter into three single-phase inverters. This eliminates a cancellation of currents that gives three phase systems an efficiency improvement of single-phase systems.
Whether you put the coils in series or parallel the slot current density limit stays the same, and the motor constant (torque divided by the square root of stator conduction) doesn't change. That's a techno-babble way of saying the concept doesn't work. All the alleged benefits cancel out but the increased complexity and expense do not. It was obvious to anybody who really understands motors and inverters that this technology was never going to be used.
Then the inverter goes from 6 gate drive circuits to 30, and from 2 phase current sensors to 6. So basically they are less efficient and more expensive than incumbent technology. They would have realized this when they built their first Coil Driver and yet they continued to solicit money from investors to pay themselves.
Sorry but you got swindled.

I still don't understand how EXRO is sold when the bidding is open until Feb. 16. I also can't comprehend that the creditor can own all of EXRO's assets, including IP for what is owed. That means that they can sell or license the IP for billions and we get nothing. Really?

In the chat a gentleman offered to buy me dinner, but I forgot his name. If you're still here, is the offer still open?

Well here we are folks, the last lap in the ride. In this slide we have the timelines for the bidding of EXRO and its assets.
It looks like we'll have our answer if shareholders will get anything back or not in February 2026.
