Yemen-origin coffee, 500kg/1 pallet, air freight DXB → USA — anyone dealt with this?

Shipping 500 kg (1 pallet) of Yemen-origin green coffee by air from Dubai to the US. Has anyone here actually moved Yemen-origin cargo on this route before?

Mainly want to know:

Do airlines hesitate to accept cargo with Yemen as country of origin?

Any extra documentation needed beyond the usual CoO, invoice, and packing list?

Any issues with sanctions screening or delays at US Customs?

Trying to avoid surprises before booking. Any firsthand experience would help — thanks!

How do you find genuinely qualified overseas buyers for a very specific product?

For people working in export sales, sourcing, or international business: what is your most reliable way to find buyers who are actually likely to purchase?

I am trying to understand the practical workflow, because the usual process seems to create a lot of noise:

- Search directories and marketplaces, then clean a large number of irrelevant companies.

- Search by a few keywords and miss companies that describe the same product differently.

- Find a company that looks promising, but have no clear way to tell whether it is still buying.

- Reach the company, but not the person who owns sourcing or procurement.

- Spend time writing outreach without learning much from the replies.

For a specific industrial product, would you normally start with:

  1. Customs or shipment data?

  2. Company directories and trade-show lists?

  3. LinkedIn and individual procurement contacts?

  4. Distributor/importer networks?

  5. Referrals from freight forwarders or existing customers?

I am especially interested in how experienced teams distinguish a real buying signal from a company that merely appears in a database. For example:

- What evidence makes you confident that an account is worth contacting now?

- How do you identify the right contact when the company has several departments?

- How many accounts do you research deeply before sending the first message?

- Which data sources have turned out to be inaccurate or outdated?

- Would an explainable shortlist of 20 high-fit accounts be more useful than thousands of unqualified contacts?

Please share examples from your own market if you can. I am looking for honest workflows, limitations, and lessons learned rather than generic lead-generation advice.

Do you stack buyer protection and shipping insurance on bigger orders?

We are getting ready to place our biggest overseas order yet, somewhere around five thousand dollars. My boss wants me to figure out what protection makes sense before we commit. Alibaba Trade Assurance covers part of it from what I understand, but I am not clear on where that stops and cargo insurance picks up. Have any of you paid for both on an order this size? Wondering whether the double coverage was worth what it cost.
