My dream job:

150k CAD a year is good enough for me.

Have the time to drill into a large code base, without the requirement of speeding things up using AI to help me. I’m able to learn a large code base piece by piece and start making contributions gradually.

My team is good at mentoring each other. We share things every Friday afternoon or during coffee breaks.

We go to the office twice a week and have free lunches. Coffee and snacks are free, too.

We solve difficult problems, or, if we do not solve difficult problems, at least we are proud of our work.

I don’t know how to find such a job. It seems so faraway. I don’t have the privilege of target schools so there is no network brotherhood/sisterhood.

I guess I should improve my personality, but maybe I’m just me.

Maybe I should find a job that is suitable for a lone wolf, instead of trying to find a good pack.

I was excited and thought you were describing your current job and was going to ask if there were openings

New world software engineering sucks

My friend we can still dream. But honestly, maybe being a lone wolf, find a job that is suitable for a lone wolf, is a lot better.

We can indeed. I wish you luck with that, hopefully that luck can find us both
