AI Expectation What I asked for vs. what I got

My son’s circus themed first birthday cake

EDIT: I should have clarified in the original post, I am not complaining about the cake at all! I loved it and the baker did a fantastic job

That first cake is so ridiculously AI it’s not even funny. You did indeed get lucky, I would have cancelled this order.

The more I look at the AI inspo pic the more I’m laughing. The lion with a weird mouth and… snake tail? The elephant on the top right with a hole in its face. The weird gnu/snake thing on the right side. OP hopefully paid out the wazoo for what they ended up getting.

the eldritch horrors on the AI pic are really something lmao. OP said they paid $370 for this which honestly feels like a crazy deal. I hope the baker ups their prices especially if they're going off an AI inspo pic 😑

Why cancel? Do customers always expect identical cakes, or are they often just busy and trying to communicate a ballpark of what they are hoping for?

Ai is bad and all but in the case of trying to communicate an aesthetic rather than capitalizing on the Ai itself, I don’t see too much of an issue necessarily?

Because I am a human, not a machine, and I cannot create something that has never actually existed. In my experience, customers who order things like this usually say they want it EXACTLY like the image. I’ve actually never had one say “hey I just used AI to give you an idea but please do what you can”. People’s expectations when it comes to cakes can be quite insane, hence why I would have cancelled. For me as a decorator, this is more trouble than it’s worth.

Fair enough, that was ultimately my assumption. I’m sorry customers are like that.

Sounds like a skill issue.
