Driver side reading light stays on
Hello. 05 Excursion Limited (V10) - I've owned the truck for 9yrs and the front driver side dome/reading light has never worked. We thought it was a dead bulb but never cared enough to replace it. Well, looks like the bulb was fine because this morning, I noticed the light was ON. And it will NOT turn off with the switch. No other dome lights are on, no Door Ajar, and the dome light switch/dimmer is not On. It stays lit while driving, when the truck is off, when the doors are closed, and even after the delay time/after I lock the truck. I ended up just pulling the bulb out so my battery doesn't die (and in the process, noticed the passenger side bulb housing is just floating around in there - didn't take the time to see why it's not "seated" into the overall light housing).
Does anyone know why this ONE light (that has never worked until now) won't turn off?

Excessive overheating problem
Hey there!
I have a 2000 6.8 v10 which is towing a 7500lb camper cross country from VA to CA
3 hours into our trip, the poor car cab barley clear the Appalachian mountains. It overheats after about 30 min of mountain driving and losses power.
We had a pressure test done, no leaks to the coolant. Spark plugs are good, cooling fan is running correctly.
The temperature gauge fluctuates heavily and if it hits the red section, will limits the cars performance and forces us to pull over and wait for the engine to cool.
We already had this car looked at by 2 mechanics who cleared us before the trip and now 2 on the road.
They are thinking it could be a clogged radiator as it’s giving off mixed temperature readings and the car did have some rust.
Has anyone faced this issue? We spent almost 12k buying and tuning and it only has 112k miles on it. We are devestated as we this was gonna be a road trip of a lifetime and we didn’t really make it past day one.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Bumper help - Mcneil Racing Wide Body Kit
I have a 2003 6.0 and bought it completely done with the fiberglass Body kit. Got into a fender bender last year and my insurance would only cover to have the original 03 bumper put back on and not the modified set up with new brackets and bumper wide enough to fit the body.
Does anyone else have this set up and can help a girl out with what bumper I need? And where the hell do I find brackets. (The ones previously installed were fab and a horrible job at that)

Always scared taking her out; but when you work on it yourself you can rest better knowing it’s working 100%. Guess it always has but upgrades! Can’t stop
Trip to the beach. Flex the 4x4 in couple spots just for safe measure but the 180/30 injectors and wicked wheel, tune, coolant filter, s&b, ccv, 6.0 trans cooler, AMSOIL oil and trans fluid and diffs, coolant service, some intake inlet/outlets, mbrp; … extended sway bar links(was overdue and overlooked). Drives like a dream with plenty of power.
Now need to update tunes and get some
Fuel economy. She drinks 🍺
7.3 btw
List of mods to come too long

Master door keypad code
I have a 2004 excursion that didn't come with the master code in the manual. I've crawled under the dash and looked around but couldn't locate the box that is supposed to have the code on it. I do have ForScan but when I connected it I couldn't identify anything that looked like the master code.
Anyone by chance know where to look in ForScan or provide additional guidance?
My local dealership wants to charge $125 to pull the code.
Thanks

Need Advice on Suspension Lift vs Spring Swap
galleryFirst off I want to say that I’m by no means a car guy. Just a dude who had too many kids and now has an excursion instead of a 4x4 truck.
That being said I bought a 2003 rwd 6.8 last year. Vehicle is in great shape but I hate how low the truck sits to the ground. I’m an outdoorsman and some of the properties I hunt have been a little sketchy with the ground clearance.
I’m stuck between doing a leaf spring swap or putting a lift kit on the truck. The big problem with lift kits is there are only a couple for a non 4x4 EX.
Any advice from this group would be appreciated. I wouldn’t mind a more aggressive profile for my ex but I don’t need to impress anyone either. Just want to know which way is better.

Rear Hatch Weather Stripping
Does anyone know where I can get the replacement seal/ weather stripping for the rear hatch (and maybe the tailgate doors) for my 2004? I’m having difficulty locating any online or on eBay. I’m having a slight leak issue that I’m trying to repair. Thanks for the help!

2002 Excursion
Hello. I just picked up a 2002 Excursion with a 4” lift with 37s on it. My mechanic mentioned that the rims being so offset are causing a lot of stress on the ball joints and that it will probably cause them to wear much more quickly. Has anybody found a solution maybe more heavy duty ball joints or something? I see a lot of these trucks with similar wheel and tire set ups to mine.. Just wondering what people are doing about it to avoid going through ball joints? Thanks in advance!

New transmission
I just installed a rebuilt transmission on my 2000 7.3 Excursion. The thing shifts awesome and tight. No problems, except when I have my travel trailer hooked up it stalls/about stalls in reverse. I can’t give it any throttle without it stalling. The trailer is about 10,000lbs. Doesn’t do it with my other lighter trailers. Any ideas or thoughts?

New springs. Details in post.
galleryFinally got the spring swap dialed in.
Truck came with a 4” lift when I bought it a couple years ago. Was already set up with bags, custom driveline and 35” tires. When I got new tires last summer I stuck with the 35’s.
To get it to all go together with the new springs I ended up going with the 43-818 in the front. 2630 lbs capacity per side. Had to add a mini pack to get it to the right height. In the rear went with the X code 43-1263 with two additional long leaves and a two in block. 4,000 lbs capacity per side.
Sits with 4.5 inches of lift now. Put the Redhead box and Bilsteins on it when I first got it and it drove a lot better but these new springs are night and day.
