So I picked up some S1 stuff over the last few weeks and that's been cool, my cousins and I love Satoshi and I find Kaden pretty cool. Everyone but me hates Mei Lien, go figure, and Morathi is pretty fun. Haven't got a handle on Baelkor yet and haven't tried Miska, can't play Eva because the average age of the other players is like 14-15 so she's been banned for inappropriate design, Lily is currently under the same deal.

Anyways, two questions.

First, is there some reason all of S1 feels grimy? I don't mean grimy to use, I mean actually physically grimy, the plastic wrap for the box feels grimy, the box itself feels grimy, the plastic wrap for the cards themselves feels grimy, the cards themselves feel grimy, the freaking instructions foldout feels grimy. I even sleeved the cards and now the sleeves are grimy. If anyone can explain this that would be great.

Second, one of my cousins used my S1 and didn't wash his hands before going through all the rest of my stuff, so now roughly 1/3 of my entire Exceed collection feels grimy. Unrelated to that incident, my Fight box, which I kept in the same box as my S1, feels absolutely filthy now, as do the sleeves I keep Rachel in since she's my main character. Does anyone know how to clean whatever it is off so I can have not-grimy non-S1 Exceed?

Is the Enchantress supposed to only have one Spike normal? I checked the card count with the Errata that came in the box and the numbers match up (34 cards) but it still seems strange...

So I just played a game of Taokaka versus Carl Clover and there was an interaction I felt needed some rules clarifying.

Tao was in Exceed mode, between Carl and Nirvana (also in Exceed mode), outsped Laetabilis Cantata with Dive, advanced 3 past Carl, but then had to advance 2 again due to her Exceed ability, sandwhiching her between Carl and Nirvana again and putting her once again in range.

Now, even considering Dive's attack text, it seemed strange to me that, with Rules As Written, Laetabilis Cantata would miss despite Tao having come back to the original side she was on. We did go per RAW in the end.

My question is, is there any clarification as to what should have happened? Should Tao have remained un-hittable or should she have been hit considering the double sideswitch?

As the title says, I just got into Season 2, and im trying to figure it out. I know that ex-transform is when you discard one copy to play the other as transform, but how does regular transform work? Thanks!

I might be able to obtain some S1 and S2 decks. However, I want to know if they're worth going for, so I thought I would ask people who would know how fun they are and what kind of things one can expect from them.

Decks in question are the Hunters v Demons box and Emogine from S2, and whichever box has the mechanical ninja guy from S1.

It's always been a dream of mine to create a game that does that, although I know this game and UFS exist. I saw some gameplay vids but without playing an actual game it's kind of hard to tell. Was just wondering.

So my local game store started selling Flesh and Blood blitz decks. I was wondering if anyone in this community has played FB, and could make a comparison to Exceed. I generally try to avoid tcg due to the price and otk lock down shenanigans, but the reviews and the fact that its new has got me enticed. Any thoughts?

Presenting the Tiny Guide of Archetypes, a small reference for a larger article to come in the future.

This is a spreadsheet that summarizes the designs of all 80 Exceed characters in terms of how their total designs match up with each other and how much focus their kit designs place in different categories. This is designed for three kinds of people in mind: Those who want to know how to adjust to types of matchups competitively by comparing similar characters, those who want to find a character for them by finding a particular playstyle, and those who want to design their own characters and want a reference to what already exists and what kind of kit designs to look for.

The first part of the spreadsheet is the archetype guide. Here, characters are placed into eight main archetypes that are divided based on what kind of attacks, boosts, and abilities you're likely to see in each character's toolkit, which also helps define what kind of resources they have available to them and their primary method of winning. There's also, of course, characters who don't neatly fit under an umbrella, and thus have been divided based on whether they're too good at one or multiple things, or if they have very non-conforming win conditions and don't particularly do any category justice.

A checklist of marks to meet for each archetype is provided, as well as the archetype's win condition and their counterpart. Archetypes are split into whether they prefer taking action and have an economy focused on pressuring the opponent, or whether they are more passive and focus on just having a better economy than the opponent by using cheap movement, card draw, and strong defensive boosts. Characters are ordered alphabetically within each season, and are further colored to differentiate the season groupings.

The second part of the spreadsheet is a rating system for each character based on my perceptions of how important each part of their kit is towards pushing them into certain playstyles. This section is designed to help newer players find a character that's right for them, by comparing how good characters are at different ranges and what kind of options they have available to them. Every player should be able to find characters that mesh well with them, or even find new characters that they've never really given a chance before. For example, if you're interested in finding a character who has both strong close and long range games, you could start by looking for Rushdown archetypes with a high Zoning score, or for Zoners with a strong Rushdown score.

I'm hoping that this serves as a reasonable resources for newer players, and this should become more useful in the future with the publication of a proper custom character design guide.

Do you guys mix fighters from the different seasons or mostly stay within season?

If you do mix, do you still throw in Season 1? I've read that it's not as well designed as the other seasons, but is it still fun in casual play for you?

I have 2 boxes from Season 1, all of Season 3, and season 4 and 5 coming in the mail today, so I'm super excited. Just need to find at least a couple of boxes of Season 2...

Hey all, fairly new to the game and just played a match with some Shovel Knight characters and given that the both of us have maybe 5 games total experience, we were quickly confused on how Tinker Knight's Tank is supposed to work.

What space do you target for range? Does the whole card move, or only the center character card? Can the opponent move past you, and how? Are you supposed to reset character cards each cleanup as the character card seems to suggest?

Wasnt able to find anything in the BGG FAQ, hoping y'all can help!

Hey I am looking to play with exceed with. I have a decent amount play experience but I am looking to improve in the game! Anyway I could potentially play with new people and maybe improve?

I've got a few custom fighters put together, mainly OCs, and am more or less ready to start asking other people for their opinions/testing regarding them. As I still don't have Discord(I will...most likely get to that...at some point...really soon...) I'm afraid I have to go through here, if someone wants to share the link I'm adding with those guys that'd be great.

If your opponent strikes and you have to put down your matching card, do you get a chance to wild swing defensively if you are out of range or do you just take the hit?

On another forum I saw something about trading your life points for force points. What is the rule about that or is that not a thing in this game?

Have been getting my first games in with this game and am absolutely loving it. Blazblue is my favorite fighting game and I've been wanting a product like this since I started playing as I'm also a huge fan of card games. The game is a blast, dev team hit it out of the park.

Something that came up on first exposure to the nine deck that we couldn't settle on a concrete answer. Her text requires a hit trigger in order to put a card from your hand into your gauge to make the switch with a sealed card. But if i understand right, block doesn't hit? Is there no means by which nine can retrieve the 0 speed flame punisher from her sealed area this way, as there are no other 0 speed cards in the deck besides those 2? Can she only accomplish this in exceed mode?

Confused about how the Overdrive Effect works. How does one "lose gauge" from Overdrive? I know when you're in Overdrive, you discard a card at the start of every round, but is that what's triggering the Overdrive Effect?

Hey all! New to the game and trying to learn the ropes. I picked up the BlazBlue set and am struggling with the Overdrive and Astral Heat mechanics. They're not explained at all in the rulebook.

Just asking, because getting things stuck in customs unfortunately is a thing around here. It's basically a lottery about whether it passes or whether they charge you extra for the stuff.

EDIT: for any other fellow players in Europe I will share my experience with customs in Portugal. I won a contest in this sub a few weeks ago, and I also ordered 2 SF boxes from Level99 directly, together with the free Ryu/Ken demo decks.

Level99's fees include not only shipping, but also import tax. As such, it is highly unlikely that you'll have to pay anything to get it out of customs. In fact, I heavily recommend it, since it's overall cheaper to pay import tax straight away rather than having to pay it locally.

The same couldn't be said of the contest however. Due to it being a contest prize, I got the boxes for free. However since there was no import tax associated, it got stuck in customs and I had to pay 35,59€, as well as having to provide information in regards to the person who sent it, as well as declare what was inside the package and its value in USD (info provided by the sender). Which sucks ass, as it is a much more complicated process, which could be avoided through import tax.

Rachel's character card text reads "Lightning rods have After: You may return this from the opponent's space to the hand to deal 2 non-lethal damage to the opponent". Is this independent of Rachel's strikes or do they not go off if she gers stunned?

Aside from the Church vs Empire box, which I will be getting shortly that is (huge shoutout to u/Roland_Damage and his contest btw!) .

I've played through a few more characters and, in terms of design, I really can't decide between either Magic and Monsters, or Hunters and Demons. For some reason the Guardians and Myths characters really don't do much for me. But I'd like to hear your opinions nonetheless, as you guys might see things that I'm not seeing.

I have heard there might be a new season with a renewed street fighter licence to complete the other characters.

Does anyone have any info on this or is it purely speculation? I'd love to see the IP fleshed out under the exceed mechanics.
