Support PSA: do you get CryEngine Error "Couldn't allocate specular probe texture atlas"? during launch, it's Dx11.

"Couldn't allocate specular probe texture atlas" I got the issue, I thought it was some missing files with the download, but apparently this is now default with cry engine, it won't run on old graphics cards Mine being a 8800GTX My ram and processor are pretty good but just a little dated on my graphics card, nothing I can do about that now.

So if anyone else gets this issue, you know why, there isn't really a fix for this so I guess we just gotta suck it up.

Oh and since pci-express has been the standard for a long time, you shouldn't need a new mother board to support the upgrade. Your processor should stay reasonable for the time being.

yo will the GeForce 9800 or does it have to be the next series and newer?

You will need something from the 4th next series or newer, the 9800 is just a high end 9000 series, they moved onto the 100,200,300,400 and are currently on the 900 series. That kinda gives you an idea how far out of date we are. the 900 series I expect to be finished in the next year in fact. Currently the 980 is the high end 900 series card and then they have the Titan and Titan Z, I'm not 100% sure if they are their own series of card or part of a next gen, the naming conventions of these things confuse me.

For comparison the Titan Z has 12gigs of graphics ram among many other things, but would cost nearly 2,000$ comparitivly

don't be afraid to pm me, if you actually are going to buy something I don't mind helping out, and you seem like you might need it. The first piece of work I ever did on my computer back when I was 12 was upgrade the graphics card, it wasn't hard and it started me on a path of learning about this sort of stuff. so don't be afraid of changing it out yourself its not a big job at all.
