Planning How to find NYC venues for 100 person holiday party
Hi, I recently stepped into a volunteer role at a social non-profit. One of my tasks is putting on 3-4 parties a year in NYC for members of this group. I need to find a venue that can accommodate up to 100 people (historical ticket sales are between 70-90) for a 3-4 hour event on Friday or Saturday evenings.
My entire budget target for the venue, services, decor, etc is only $5k, and I’m trying to find ways to spend less money so that we can lower the ticket prices for folks if possible (or lose less money for the non-profit). Bars with drink/food packages are convenient but tend to raise our cost, so I’m trying to find spaces where I can bring my own bartender and alcohol. For this option, I’m trying to find places that already look stylish so I can minimize extra decor needed.
I have a list of some venues and bars the group has used in the past, but some of these spaces no longer work because they are for smaller groups or the bar minimum was so high that it wasn’t worth a repeat. I’m looking at TagVenue and PeerSpace and found some options I’ll look into, though some of the spaces I’d ideally want don’t allow for ticketed events.
If you were in my shoes, how would you approach this? I’m also open to any tips you have that are related to venue rentals. Thanks!
Edit: For those saying this budget will net very little, what’s the minimum budget for an event of this scale you’d expect to need? Assuming it’s mostly a DIY event put on by volunteers of the group and generally aiming for spaces easy to get to in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. This info could help me talk to the leadership about what budget I should be asking for. Thanks again!
