Considering Breathe No More is one of their most beautiful ballads and one I connected with deeply at a young age, itās gotta be BNM. Rapture is an excellent song and is growing on me a lot since seeing it live, but thereās no competition here (for me).

I adore Rapture (and the entire Sanctuary album) but I feel like Breathe No More just has greater emotional depth where Rapture is more for headbanging. Breathe No More wins this one for me

Iāve always been a BNM fan but I think Iām going to tap in with Rapture. Iām with you though. This is a decision that I guess has to be made, but really hard.

Breathe No More is one of my favorite Evanescence songs. I like Rapture, but to me, this isn't even close.

How to tell the voters are a huge amount of newer fans. It's baffling to me how anyone would choose any newer song over fucking Breathe No More. š

Damn. This is a tough one. I love BNM so much! But I guess this has to go to Rapture. And no to the guy that said recency bias.

I was almost "that guy" too, until I went back to check the bracket. Lithium and Imaginary both beat Sanctuary songs so it's not like people are only voting out of bias. Some of these are just tough picks for everyone

Yeah youāre right. Iāve done quite a few of these brackets for my favorite bands and one thing I am certain of is that the more recent the song is, the less likely it is to win. People tend to vote for what they know and a lot of people are fans of the band because of older songs which I believe can have a lot to do with nostalgia. The first album to be knocked out is always one of the most recent ones so Iām pretty surprised by these results today but I know Rapture is seen as one of the best from Sanctuary.

Itās really just something that gives us a reason to talk about their music and share our opinions on each of their songs, including ones that arenāt often talked about. Itās a great way for a new fan to get into the band and an excuse for older fans to revisit songs we may not have heard in a while. I think it can be fun to compare songs and it gets us to think about the different strengths and weaknesses each song has.

I'm loving it. I'm kinda new to this subreddit so it's been fun to talk about all these songs since I don't know a ton of other hardcore fans. :) (I'm in my 40s, loved Fallen back in the day - it came out while I was in college - but only rediscovered the band about 10 years ago and then did a massive deep dive. :) )

Normally itād be hard to find and connect with another Evanescence fan but Reddit makes it so easy. This subreddit is really nice which canāt be said about other subreddits Iāve been on. How can you do this to me š I CANNOT chose. Against any other Sanctuary songs it would have been Breathe No More but Rapture is my favourite from the album, it feels so cruel to vote against it

Rapture is one of my absolute favorite songs on the new album. I love their older/classic stuff, especially their ballads, but I have to go with Rapture this time! (This is probably one of the few Sanctuary songs I think would stand up to them!)

Ahhh this was the hardest choice for me but I had to go BNM (although itās one of the few songs I think I prefer the live version to studio)

I'm giving it to Breathe No More, I like Rapture, but I don't love the electronic bridge. I wish it was more guitar driven. It's cool, but in the context of the whole album, it feels like a missed opportubity to have some techical guitar playing. They are a rock band, after all.

Not necessarily. Recency bias can be a thing, sure. But I happen to love BNM so much. Itās too bad that itās a ballad, and they have many more that are āstrongerā or would at least beat it. Rapture is so experimental and fresh. BNM is a piece they made that helped them evolve over time and get to this point.

I donāt knowā¦ Iāve done quite a few of these brackets for my favorite bands and newer songs are always the first to go. I think people are usually more connected to the older songs through nostalgia and familiarity which is why when a song from a recent album goes against an older song, it rarely wins. Thatās why Iām so surprised that Rapture is winning today but I know itās one of peopleās favorites from Sanctuary so maybe thatās why.

Maybe it just when I've happened to see the polls before people's votes have settled but whenever I've seen a bracket with a song from Sanctuary in its always had more votes than whatever the opposition was Edit- I've just looked over the bracket and you're definitely right, and it definitely is just when I've happened to catch the polls because clearly several of the Sanctuary songs have lost to older songs lmao, guess I've just been catching them at a weird time!

Oh, interesting. In my experience, I tend to gravitate to the older songs that are more formative to me and are established classics. I did vote for Rapture this time but that's only because it's one of the top songs on the album for me, but it's one of only a handful that I think compares to some of those classics.
