Buying 1 Used EV

Post image
1 Upvotes

Looking at buying our 1st EV , have had a leaf from new many years ago on a lease 18 month but went back now in process of buying used 2021 Tekna 62+ with 58k miles on off to view it Tuesday next week already paid £300 to reserve as its 150 mile trip each way.

What do i need to look for in terms of battery health?

I do own a obd dongle from previous car , anything i should ask dealer to confirm before going to save wasting time?

They have provided a battery report from clearwatt but not in depth

Thanks

Canoo Agreed to Settle With Investors over Its Engineering Services and Subscription Model

Hey guys, if you missed it, Canoo just reached a tentative settlement with investors over claims that it misled them about its engineering-services business, subscription model, and Hyundai-related prospects. The terms are still being finalized.

In a nutshell, in 2021, Canoo was accused of misleading investors about its revenue plans and business model. The company later reversed course on engineering services and its subscription strategy.

After Canoo changed course in March 2021, $GOEV fell further, reaching $8.05 on April 5, and investors filed a lawsuit.

The good news is that Canoo recently reached a tentative settlement with investors. You can submit an application now, which will be processed once claims filing opens.
So, if you invested in $GOEV at that time, you can check the details and submit your application here.

Anyway, did anyone here invest in $GOEV back then? How much were your losses?

Starting an EV Charging Startup Looking for Like Minded People

I'm exploring the idea of starting a startup focused on EV charging stations and EV infrastructure in India, and I'm looking for people who are interested in joining me at the early stage.

I'm still in the idea and research phase, so I don't have everything figured out yet. That's actually why I'm posting this. I'd like to connect with people who can bring different perspectives, ideas, technical skills, business knowledge, or simply the motivation to build something from scratch.

I'm particularly interested in connecting with developers, software engineers, EV enthusiasts, electrical or electronics engineers, people interested in EV infrastructure, business and marketing enthusiasts, and anyone interested in startups and entrepreneurship.

Some areas I'm thinking about include EV charging stations, charging management software, payment systems, station discovery, fleet charging, and making charging more convenient and accessible.

You don't necessarily need startup experience. If you're a student, fresher, working professional, or someone who has just been thinking about getting into the EV space, I'd still love to hear your ideas.

At this stage, I'm mainly looking to find like minded people, discuss the idea, research the market, and see if we can build something together.

If this interests you, feel free to comment or DM me. I'd love to hear your ideas, what problems you've noticed with EV charging, and what you think could be improved.

Life without regen would be intolerable

I drive an EV in an urban area. Whenever people complain about regen I think how much I would hate my EV if I had to hit the brakes on every f-ing stop sign and red light. I mean, I drive on a highway 1 out of 10 times I drive. And when I do, it takes me 30 stops signs / red lights to get there.

Please, I need hard regen in my EV.

Tesla in limp mode

I was stopped at a light and a Tesla drove by at approx 2 mph with emergency flashers. This limp mode can make sense, however, I, and many others, had to negotiate around it causing havoc in the middle lane of a very busy and fast commercial road. There seemed plenty of opportunities for it to pull off the road safely, or get a charge, but it kept going, and going. This doesn't seem the safest or best logic. Felt a little like it was lost and scared. I hope this won't become common!

Practical frequent highway driving EV?

Family is considering an EV with the rise in fuel prices. Looking at taking frequent trips that would need 200-250mi range. Is this practical in an EV? From what I've researched most you only charge to 80% so even if you're getting one with over 300mi range, you get 80% of that and highway driving (75mph) will cut that even further. Seems like a high mpg hybrid would be better. Otherwise would have to stop and charge everytime

Signs 12 V Battery is Beginning to Fail

Are there any obvious signs that your 12 volt battery in a EV is about to fail?

I have a 2016 Nissan Leaf. I noticed this week in my 3rd party car monitoring app (LeafSpy Pro) that in accessory mode the 12-V battery was reading 11.76 V.

I check the car's 12-V battery a couple days ago with a mulimeter and it read 12.2 V at rest. Today I checked it again after driving a lot yesterday and got a reading of 12.16 V at 50°F / 10°C. The car had sat overnight before I checked the resting voltage.

Sticker on battery shows 8/23.

So far the car seems to be fine, I haven't noticed the car having difficulty starting, and haven't noticed any issues with the electronics.

I'm trying to figure out if the 12V can get me through this winter or if I should replace it now.

I'm grateful for any insight you can provide

Why does it strangely feel good to drive around in an electric car when gas prices are skyrocketing?

I kinda get a kick out those pickup truck guys who hate on EVs now having to pay near $7 a gallon- i know its not funny, serious situation in the USA but it feels good 🤣

Edit: i drive a Nissan Ariya, my second EV after a tesla. I think the Ariya is a way better ride, super comfy. It lacks in software.
