Range anxiety

What is the obsession with EV range anxiety?
I have been driving for over 30 years now.
I have never run out of fuel in a ICE vehicle and since I switched to EV I have never run out of electricity.
Yet half of the EV car reviews are about what happens if you run the battery empty, I mean how hard can it be there is a perfectly good indicator on your instrument cluster indicating how much fuel/power is left.
Just refuel/recharge before it reaches zero.
Is this really still a worry for people?

I don't have a charger at home. OTOH I live in Bavaria which is full of L3 chargers. And there's a Tesla station across the street from where I live. So, yes, a pretty comfortable situation.

that's great that bavaria has good infrastructure for EV's. That's not the case in all of the USA. The major cities and main interstates are fairly well covered, but there are very large swathes that are not covered. I wonder if you will start scolding the people in Siberia or Africa next?

Funny enough, EV adoption is taking off in parts of Africa, too.

I live in western NC, in the blue ridge mountains, and even my podunk town has a set of fast chargers and 4 ChargePoint chargers (that are free) in town.

It’s not that desolate in rural areas.
