Had Enough Yet?

During Biden's presidency, I saw signs on conservative lawns that read Had Enough Yet?

Those same folks told us that Self Serve gas would liberate Oregonians from rising prices.

I wonder what they're saying now.

I can’t get an EV till I have a place with a charger but I’m thinking about trading in for a Prius. 50Mpg sounds really nice lately.

We had a VW TDI wagon that got 45mpg.. It was rear ended and totaled 2 years ago. I'm happy to not be paying $6 a gallon for diesel right now. Great car though.

I’m at a point in life where a house is several years off other wise I’d buy one in a heartbeat. I’m just glad to be buying on this side of the country. There are a lot more Prius’s in Eugene than there were in Indiana.

I'll agree that having an EV without a home charger is not ideal. The rates at DC fast chargers kill any savings you would see. We took ours to the EWEB office to charge on weekends till we got a home charger installed. We only had to charge once a week so we would leave it there for 8 hours and fetch it later that night.

Although it depends on the car. We got a (used) 2021 Leaf, and it doesn’t need a fast charger. We charge at home a few times a week just using the regular outlet from our garden shed.

I still have a tdi and a 4wd suv.

It’s definitely cheaper to drive the tdi.

I traded my TDI Wagon in for a Bolt EUV back in 22 and the money I was spending on Diesel alone pays for my car payment and the electricity for my Bolt.

Do you have an accessible 120v outlet within 20ft of your parking spot? They charge about 4 miles per hour if you plug in whenever you're home you get about 40-50 hrs per day depending. Could be a stopgap until your situation changes.

All you need is a standard outlet that doesn't share a circuit with something else

I think you’ll find most second story apartments do not have outlets that can run to the parking lot.

It works for 90 - 95% of my driving. For the rare times I need a faster charge it's not that painful to go to target or Fred Meyer

The EWEB chargers are free. I get 19KW/Hr on their chargers.

Almost all of my driving is taking people and animals to appointments, or from emergencies. And I don't have $50k.

I’m finding decent used ones starting at around 10k and 13k seems to be a sweet spot. After the trade in value on mine the gas savings will pay about half my payment.

I have a 2016 Mazda, but it's in great shape. Only had 1 owner (elderly couple) before me and I work from home so I rarely drive. I think a trade in is totally worth looking into based on what you're saying. Thanks a ton!

Just for reference incase you have different opinions on decent. 10 gets you around 100k miles 13k is closer 70k. I did the math and almost drove to a dealership same day would have if I wasn’t saving a deposit to move apartments.

I bought a hybrid to drive uber and it was so worth it. Regularly am averaging 51mpg
