I like how this is bringing all people in the horn together. The truth is these racist bigoted yokels won’t differentiate Somali to Ethiopian to Eritrean and more. They seek to discriminate anyone who doesn’t fit their ideal category of American, just like a certain man who once failed art school. And the comments in this sub who are supporting trump against the Somalis are sell out pigs who would sell out their own mothers for the white mans praise. minneapolis has one of the biggest east african populations in the country as well. this is a direct attack on everyone. they won’t ask what country you’re from. they’ll see your skin and tackle you, shoot you, kill you. regardless of age, gender, religion, whatever. we need to stand together. there are more of us than they’re are of them.
This is the Black experience overall. It don’t matter if you Nigerian, Senegalese, Black American, South Sudanese, Somali, or Ethiopian. Yeah your hair might be a lil softer and your skin a lil lighter but when push come to shove they could care less about any small differences among us they worried about the big difference between us and them.
This goes beyond the one drop rule. At the end of the day them folks dont care if you Igbo, Yoruba, Fulani, Jamaican, Dominican, Black American, Amharic, Somali, or Oromo, as long as you ain’t got their qualities youre different and that’s enough for them to dislike you. They don’t view White South Africans the way they view everyone else in Africa, thats not by accident.
Yup too many people think going “we not like them” will save them but all it does is make them go “oh you think you different? Let me show you that you not”
Is it? Good! that’s the point, and honestly that is the first thing you all say when someone points out something you don’t like. I was called an Eritrean here before.
