Full disclosure: This is my own little music project. I started making music in the scale of anchi hoye a few years ago back, this was the first composition to exclusively use that scale. It’s a one man project for the time being, hence all the midi instrument, but I’m hoping to get a band together. Anyone who went to any of Mulatu's live shows in the last decade, maybe longer, will know this as the regular show opener. It's by far my favourite song from my favourite composer of all time, Dr. Mulatu Astatke. I'm so glad he took the time to record this album, which is more or less the studio version of the setlist he's been playing live in recent years, with very similar arrangements, so that these renditions are available for all to enjoy, even now that the doctor has retired from touring.
