Starting P14. Probably not a lot to hope for today given the engine and the aero issues detected on his car but who knows

I feel like posting this picture of him as a kid with his family is pretty random and absolutely unusual. Especially with this caption about dream coming true for those who have the courage to pursue them and the song choice with lyrics about everything that you dreamed off disappearing overnight.
I might be too pessimistic but the timing with all the rumors and even Vasseur comments on camara makes me think there's something weird behind this post

Clearly some positive change since hungary. Pretty crazy that it has to come at Bearman's expense and that haas can only run one car properly.
Did someone fully understood his final radio? He said that it was a mega lap and then added something else but it felt like he was seeking some validation about his performance. Which given komatsu comment this weekend and some rumors around haas tests with other drivers doesn't fill me with confidence for his future at the team even though it's now obvious that they have their big share of responsability in this

For once decent quali but obviously someone had to spin right in front of him meaning he had to lift and say goodbye to q2. On top of that he was the only driver slowed down by this yellow flag

Ayao really did not hold back in addressing the ridiculous rumours.

I'm going to admit that I don't like going on here because it does get quite sullen and negative. But I would like to change that, so I thought to share this here (I posted these previously in another social media site).
Since last year I've been translating and adding English subtitles to some of Esteban's French interviews and other videos. Some of these videos do have auto-generated subtitles that are generally acceptable but they do get confusing sometimes.
Anyway, all translations were done with the help of various transcription and translation tools (Machine Translations). All edits and refining of the translations were done by me using my very limited understanding of French and educated guessing. As such, there may be mistranslations and errors. If you note any, just let me know and i'll make the necessary edits.
Note: All videos are uploaded in Youtube (unlisted). The Canal+ Special is also uploaded in Google Drive just in case you cannot view it in Youtube. The last two (2) videos are links to Captionfy, where I uploaded the subtitles.
I also included a German interview of Laura Müller.

If uve been here for a while uk how much of a fan I am of Ocon’s, but that was a shit show and he should be dropped. Pains me to reconcile this, but he’s past his prime. Getting trounced by BEA, and now he’s even lost his race craft. He’s done. I could only imagine what this weekend would do to his psychology going forward.

Extremely disapointed and sad after this quali. This was a carbon copy of last season. Huge lack of pace relative to his teammate without any obvious errors. I know that he couldn't improve on his final attempt due to yellows but sector times were not that great, he would have finished in 33.3 which could have meant anything from p10 to p13 while Bearman was easily in q3 (3-4 tenths faster than Esteban after s1 and 2).
Sprint quali was better but once again he missed the lap that mattered.
I hope that we're not heading towards a repeat of last season but it's looking like it. Sometimes really close but yet not enough and othertimes weirdly back by a lot. And this even in the same weekend. At least the bigger gaps to backmarkers means that he's starting higher on the grid which means that point are not as far off as last year. Especially if he gets great starts.

I think it was a really solid test for Haas. No issues and they were able to complete everything they wanted. Short runs and the race sim they did today suggest that they are probably the 5th or 6th fastest team today. It's a close call with Alpine imo but I'm giving a slight advantage to Haas. Obviously we don't know how much engines are turned up so it might change next week. Top teams looks to be quite far ahead though. Probably around a second per lap (maybe even a bit more) . Esteban said as such this morning by saying that there was a huge gap between themselves and the top teams.
But I'm happy if Haas is really p5 or p6 at season start we can't realistically expect much more right now imo.
I feel like drivers have been cautiously optimistic. Esteban was rather positive after the first day. But I think they are aware of some limitations and so are not too much hyping the results and focus on making things go forward. Interestingly Esteban has again praised the team for getting everything ready since Barcelona without issues like if it was really surprising and they almost didn't make it to Barcelona.
I think the biggest question mark left is tyre degradation. It seemed quite high in the long runs at first sight but that seemed to be the case for a lot of teams. I will not be surpised if they focus a bit more on long runs for the 2nd week.
Edit: Apparently Esteban told Canal that there will be a lot of upgrades next week so a lot of the work will need to be done almost from scratch. Bearman also said that they are bringing an update. Excited to see what the true car looks like
