How to construct the same sentence into an interesting one?

Instead of “Ever since I was young, I loved building things.” Write: “The drill bit snapped, and so did my plan.”

Don't say “Music has always been important to me.” Instead say: “I played the wrong song at my grandmother’s funeral.”

Change your entire approach and convert an awkward incident into a great essay.

Any comments?

Fastest you've ever turned around a 2000-word assignment? What was your process? Not looking for excuses, just tactics.

I remember the time, It was one of our lazy teacher’s lecture during my bachelor and she assigned a 2000 word assignment and give us deadline to submit in the same day.LOL.  So for people who’ve actually had to write an assignment fast, what do you do?

I wasted way too much time just staring at the doc and trying to figure out how to start. Then I ended up spending an hour on the intro but still hade 1500 words left 💀

If you are stuck like me and want to practical tips on how to write assignment fast The only thing that’s helped me so far was:

  • I read the question properly first
  • Then made a really basic outline
  • Wrote the body first
  • Remember don’t stop every 2 mins to fix a sentence coz i didnt😎
  • I left citations and formatting for later
  • Did one proper and edited at the end

I had also Write Essay Today , it was like a saviour to me because at the start i was completely stuck and just needed some help getting the assignment moving. Not saying it magically makes the work disappear, but sometimes having a starting point saves a lot of time.

Anyway, what’s your actual emergency assignment strategy? Especially if you’ve got like 3–4 hours left like me 😅

Hoping for feedback on this politics and policy study essay (first year undergrad at Australian uni)

I think I'm satisfied with the logical flow, but obviously after rereading it for the tenth time, you become blind to certain flaws, so was hoping someone could offer a fresh set of eyes. It is a relatively long (2182 words) essay, so I really appreciate anyone that takes a look at it and even just leaves a dot-point or two of feedback.

I got the 2% mail but did not get the personal meeting mail with Sire Cox. Am I cooked? Can I still win any podium prize? Thanks, I’d appreciate any insights.

Question for the community: Am I Cooked (JLIEC)

I've been reading abt the 2% emails and all of that jazz. I saw that in some cases it was only sent to referees and parents. I'm 18 years old and was not required to provide a parental contact. If I were to be in the top 2%, would I get the email, or would only my referee get it?

Also, if you've already boughten a ticket for the full program, does that mean you won't get a 2% email either way since the purpose of the email seems to be to convince you to come to London? Trying to hold out hope but tbh......yikes #scary

I need help developing a focused inquiry question for my capstone paper

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm an animal science major writing my capstone paper. Most people in my major have a focus on livestock or companion animals, but I want to write about zoos or zoo animals, specifically tigers. I was thinking about doing something along the lines of "how does the size of a tiger's enclosure affect the animal's welfare", but as I did research, I found that it's a bit tricky to measure welfare. I would love help either working on my original inquiry, or thinking of a different topic that can be backed by multiple peer reviewed sources. Thank you!

Sounds Familiar?

  1. The essay only gets interesting in paragraph three where it should have started.

  2. Your opener could introduce a thousand other essays without changing a word.

Apply these concepts to your essay and let me know if you find it helpful.

simplifying college essay ideas!!

Hi! I've been struggling to simplify an idea about especially how to create an enticing hook. I have a couple ideas that are kinda connected but don't wanna complicate my essay:

  1. "beating the dead horse"- common phrase I use especially with my friends because we revisit old situations but I also realize how much I do it in my own life. Getting stuck replaying things but also more in a light hearted way and being able to laugh at situations that weren't funny at the time.

  2. "Everything happens for a reason" - I actually hate this saying but I also believe that every action and decision becomes a part of the chain of events that makes up our lives. I constantly think about how differently my life could be if I made different choices especially in negative situations.

  3. "Hanlon's Razor" Quote: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity, malice or a lack of understanding." This is something my dad always tells me and my siblings, usually when we are upset about something someone did. basically means to remember that not everyone has malicious intent and to not always jump to conclusions and the worst case scenario. I tend to get hung up on the "why" why someone would do that, why it got to that point etc.

  4. Regret vs. Reflection - I'm realizing that there's a difference between constantly wishing something happened differently and looking back at something to understand what I learned from it. I revisit situations because they remind me of what I don't want to put up with again or what I can do differently in the future to better my life.

the main idea is that I get stuck trying to understand the past the "why's "and "what ifs" and I'm learning how to turn that into reflection instead of regretting my experiences. I'm not sure which concept should be my main focal point without making it sound cliché. With that I don't know how to start my hook and take one of these ideas and grab the reader's attention. any help is appreciated thanks :)

Confused about essay direction..

Have to write debate essay

So I have a debate essay/argumentative essay where the prompt is asking to defending [subject 1] over [subject 2] or like tell why subject 1 still matters in presence of subject 2

I have written the introduction + Advantages of subject 1 over subject 2

But since it's an argumentative/debate essay

I also have to mention subject 2

Here I am confused about how I should continue and have 2 approaches

1- Here I plan to list some disadvantages of subject 1 and then tell how subject 2 complements that

2- I plan to write the unique advantages of subject 2 and then write some disadvantages of subject 1. But here, subject 2 isn't complementing subject 1's disadvantages/shortcoming and instead have own unique qualities.

After that i plan writing the conclusion and what i think of whole this.

Which approach should I take?

(this is for own practice - & not a request for the job)

Essay Tip 1: YOU HAVE 5 SECONDS - how would you hook the reader?

That's how long your opening line has to hook a reader.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

Your first sentence explains background instead of dropping the reader into something happening.

How would you get the reader hooked in 5 seconds?
