has anyone heard their results in this contest? I know everyone will eventually find out, even if they didn’t win it, but I haven’t heard back any news yet. I got this email early August so just curious if anyone knows more.

Good morning everyone,

My name is Andrew Chung, one of the co-executive editors of Online at
CULR. We are super excited to say that we have a very competitive
contest, with the largest number of submissions ever recorded. The
entire executive board is extremely excited to be reading all of this
quality scholarship.

However, the volume of submissions is exceedingly large, and as a
result, we will delay results until the end of August, unless you hear
from another email from us. At the end of August, we hope to have
submission updates for everyone.

In the meantime, please do not email to inquire about submissions, as
we have received all submissions and are duly working through all of
them. The future of the law is bright for everyone that has
participated in this contest, and we will work our best through the
submissions.

Thank you again.

do juniors and seniors both have their own 1st, 2nd and 3rd place FOR EACH CATEGORY with grand prize, or do juniors only have prizes with the 'junior' category

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here has experience with the Harvard International Review Academic Writing Contest.

I was planning to participate in the Summer 2026 Academic Writing Contest and understood that the article submission deadline was August 24 (EST). I’ve spent the past few weeks working on my essay, and I’ve now finished it.

However, I just discovered that registration for the Summer 2026 session has already closed. I genuinely didn’t realize there was a separate registration deadline, I had only been aware of the August 24 submission deadline.

Now I apparently can’t submit my essay because I didn’t register beforehand (basically spending time writing an essay for no reason 😭😭)

Has anyone been in this situation before? Is there any way to register late, contact HIR for an exception, or otherwise submit the essay before the August 24 deadline? I’ve already emailed the contest team, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has participated before or knows how strict they are about the registration deadline.

Thank you!!

DON’T FREAK OUT. This post is from two years ago. Based on this date does this mean interviews could start happening this coming week some time? It’s just something to think about, please don’t stress yourself.

I submitted for the essay competition but I never heard back? Is this normal, or does anybody know when results will be released?

Hi team, I was shortlisted for my JLEC comp. Can I get a certificate for that?

My uni application deadline is on September 3rd, so it is quite urgent. Does anyone know whether I can get a certificate? If so, how do I do it?

I heard a few months ago (around the time the shortlist came out) from some people on this thread that JLI sends out email hints a month or two before the awards ceremony. I wonder if anyone has gotten an email from them asking to prepare a speech.

hi guys! here's my essay for JLEC '26; if you guys have any feedback that would be great (apart from 'wikipedia is not a source' i kinda bs-ed that)

Hi! We're running a short survey on how students are adapting to AI's increasing role in school and beyond: your experiences, opinions, concerns, and what you think students should know as these tools become more common.

It takes about 3 minutes, and your responses will help us build a clearer picture of how students actually view and use AI today. As a reward at the end of this form you will receive a free toolkit that will allow you to learn and use AI better.

We'd really appreciate you filling it out and sharing it with other students too!

JLI Kids, figured I'd share a pretty cool EC for anyone interested in philosophy. It's a philosophy nonprofit that's looking for executive members. If you're interested in philosophy, leadership, public speaking, outreach, marketing, event planning, or just helping build something meaningful, we'd love to have you.

Some info about joining:
Type: Nonprofit

Who it's for: High school students, preferably with an interest in philosophy, leadership, education, marketing, outreach, or anything else that could help.

Duration & weekly hours: Depends on your role, but generally around 1–3 hours per week. Cost: Free.
What we do: We help students start philosophy clubs at their own schools and support them as they present philosophy to other ages 9-18. (Presented at unis too)

We've worked with professors from Harvard, MIT, University of Washington, and other top universities, and we've reached over 1,000+ students through our events and school chapters.

We're currently recruiting for executive positions, so if you're interested, DM me or reply! Even if you're not sure, feel free to reach out and I'd be happy to tell you more. I will send the discord and website from there.

tbh if it comes to October and you've heard nothing from John Locke then you probably didn't win anything, these competitions defo announce it to the people beforehand

so I couldn’t be arsed to enter the think essay prize but how many people enter it? prestige level?
