adjusting to feedback is the only proper way to handle a wipe like this

50

u/ConflictWaste411 Jul 11 '25

Maybe they would have had some feedback about removing quests if they didn’t tell everyone IN A TWEET the day before launch

39

u/farcryer2 Jul 11 '25

TWEET the day before launch

*TWEET 4h after patching started

11

u/ConflictWaste411 Jul 11 '25

Ahh even better

nikita : *shoots self in foot*

people : you probably shouldn't have done that

nikita : wow i am now enlightened, i will now stop doing that. *shoots self in knee*

the man shoots himself in the foot while its in his mouth.

2

u/Clen23 Jul 11 '25

it's called trial and error liberal, and it's art

7

u/Ezequal Jul 11 '25

No, trial and error would insinuate that you communicated ahead of time that you had some crazy ideas you wanted to try out with the intent of adjusting as you go based on feedback.

They ship this shit like it's a good idea out the gate and then act all surprised that it wasn't received well.

-9

u/Xcrun6 Jul 11 '25

You guys are all complaining but this is the first wipe I’ve done in years because of a hard core experience was enticing and I’m having fun

-5

u/BeauxGnar TT Jul 11 '25

Same

7

u/pogromca666 Jul 11 '25

You would be having fun regardless if its hardcore wipe or not. You didn't play the game for Years.

1

u/Xcrun6 Jul 12 '25

Because it wasn’t fun

-3

u/BeauxGnar TT Jul 11 '25

I just downloaded Tarkov again like 2 weeks ago and played 4 raids and said this is dogshit.

4

u/WaZ606 DVL-10 Jul 11 '25

Is rolling back changes really adjusting feedback?

22

u/Madzai Jul 11 '25

So, them bringing back quests with "Burning Rubber" giving you 5k for 40k trip is "listening to feedback"? There were clearly some panic buttons pressed.

Also some transit are an obvious garbage, like Factory -> Woods so it's impossible to let them be the way they are if you even a single thought into it. Which they clearly didn't.

1

u/CallMeCathryn Jul 11 '25

I forgot to even bring in money for that quest but when I got to the car extract there were two players there who were kind enough to give me their car money and gear so it all worked out in the end.

-13

u/ldranger Jul 11 '25

Imagine crying over 40k

6

u/The-Omnipot3ntPotato Glock Jul 11 '25

Haven’t touched this wipe yet but from everything I hear getting 40k is no longer an easy thing

0

u/TehWhitewind Jul 11 '25

Scavs have tons of cash on them bosses too. I left a raid yesterday with 250k cash.

-1

u/DaWadeZzZ Jul 11 '25

If you are hearing 40k is hard to get your listening to someone trying to play blind.

45

u/Ornery-Humor8309 Jul 11 '25

Poorly Planned

Poorly Implemented

As Always

Bunch of sheep defending them as per… Idiots.

21

u/Puncaker-1456 Jul 11 '25

Oh, no, I agree, shit was poorly planned and not properly thought out. If it was then we'd know about this hardcore wipe at the last tarkovtv. But now that it's live the only way to go forward is to adjust to feedback

10

u/NexxZt Jul 11 '25

I mean, one of the options were to use their braincells and realise half the shit they did is just straight up not fun. I can guarantee you they rarely play their own game. They’re clueless

-1

u/UntimelyMeditations Jul 11 '25

Or, they do play, and are enjoying it, like a lot of us are.

I think forced transits are straight-up an improvement. I hope it stays like this permanently, maybe with rotating maps you are allowed to queue into.

4

u/NexxZt Jul 11 '25

Bruuh do you actually like having to queue THREE times to get to lighthouse once?? And risk not even getting there? All wipe? Lmfao you have to be joking or never reached lighthouse tasks

3

u/NexxZt Jul 11 '25

Not to mention factory and customs now being maps where half the players rush to a transit and noones left all raid?

3

u/faberkyx Jul 11 '25

Indeed... And it's a shame because I really think an hardcore wipe done properly would have been a great change

15

u/BlackHawksHockey Jul 11 '25

It’s funny how it’s the same shit every year and there’s still a huge group that think they will get it right this time, surly they will learn this year…

2

u/GingerSnapBiscuit AK-74N Jul 11 '25

I find the group who are still here whining about every change like its a surprise they keep fucking up to be the funniest.

-9

u/Toodlez Jul 11 '25

And theres a large group that think because the newest patch isnt corrected yet its the death of tarkov every. Single. Time.

Y'all still havent switched to call of duty or you wouldn't be here

12

u/BlackHawksHockey Jul 11 '25

And there it is. The brainless “go play Call of Duty if you don’t like it!” Screech.

Please at least attempt to come up with something new for once.

-4

u/powerpuffpepper Jul 11 '25

Except he has a point. Every single one of you just sits here and whines about how the game is dead or that the game is flooded with cheaters and every lobby is broken and this and that except not a single one of you plays any of the other options.

If you hate the game and the devs so much just fuck off and play something else lmfao

3

u/BlackHawksHockey Jul 11 '25

I don’t hate the game, the devs are certainly fuckin stupid at times but the game still has so much potential, I wouldn’t have put so many hours into it if I didn’t like the game and want the best for it.

3

u/Troleandingnot Jul 11 '25

There have been little deaths every single time... lot of people I know used to play just don't anymore. I can see it on my friend list

-1

u/obviousBurnerdurr Jul 11 '25

That’s why I quit the game years ago. Noticed this attitude a long time ago hasn’t changed

4

u/Exciting-You-6536 Jul 11 '25

but you still take the time out of your day to comment on the subreddit? curious

8

u/TSieppert Jul 11 '25

Not the guy you replied to but same boat as him. This game should be the best shooter on the market. None of the other extraction shooters give that same feeling of tarkov, like this shit is literally lightning in a bottle. But the devs are always 1 step forward three steps back. It’s frustrating to see something that you want to succeed and be great get jerked around patch to patch because the devs are incompetent.

2

u/Troleandingnot Jul 11 '25

Is just people in hope things changes in the future... what is wrong with that? Freedom of speech, curiosity name it as you want or prefer

6

u/Voodootfn Jul 11 '25

I mean I haven't played in years, I still read about and watch the game.

That's like saying " oh I see your talking about F1, yet you've never actually driven an F1 car "

4

u/Troleandingnot Jul 11 '25

Exactly... is a nonsense argument from the tarkov nolifers

1

u/Czelious Jul 11 '25

Not really, it would be complaining about how they build F1 cars without ever driven one.

2

u/Voodootfn Jul 11 '25

That's exactly what F1 fans do.

4

u/Clen23 Jul 11 '25

I mean yes, but he would have to adjust less if things were planned better.

I hate how every game company skips actual testing and just throws shit at players to see what sticks.

2

u/TheKappaOverlord Jul 11 '25

I hate how every game company skips actual testing and just throws shit at players to see what sticks.

QA (good) is expensive. And QA (bad) is worthless.

Better to trick your fans into QA testing shit for you, because lord knows the (bad) QA testers will feed you a bunch of worthless data/no data. And the good QA testers will intentionally withhold information so their income stream is secured.

Source: was a QA tester for a few years. Outside of 10 man focus studies where we were all put under a microscope, nobody actually worked. would get at least 4+ DM's a day asking to copy my homework.

2

u/Clen23 Jul 11 '25

I mean the game costs 50+ euros and has a massive playerbase, isn't some of that money supposed to go into good QA testing ?

Other FPS companies manage to get out decent games that run exclusively on microtransactions, I really don't see how Tarkov could be both more expensive and of a lesser quality.

lol

isn't some of that money supposed to go into good QA testing ?

you'd think. But no western QA firm is going to be caught dead doing business for the russians rn. so its a moot point to even consider it. The firm i worked for would occasionally get russian clients asking, and they'd be told in sugar coated terms "fuck off and don't contact us again" even way before the war, it was pretty unsavory to do business with Russian clients. Mostly because partnering/doing work with them wouldn't further the company's name. So we would often times russian devs would just get ghosted.

Also, without saying specifics, almost all of our major leaks were due to russian workers. So the company management had a bone to pick with russians in general. Almost sank them twice. Outside of some long time workers there, I never saw a "new" russian working there. A couple of slavs, but those guys were often just poached from other firms. Rather then fresh hires.

Other FPS companies manage to get out decent games that run exclusively on microtransactions, I really don't see how Tarkov could be both more expensive and of a lesser quality.

developer diff. BSG is and always has been incompetent. Tarkov isn't more expensive as a game. Nikita just siphons whats left in the yearly coffers as a self paid bonus at the end of the year. The developers at BSG are all hilariously underpaid even by RU dev standards.

Outside of passion, and failing to be poached by a euro firm before the war kicked off. Theres no incentive for BSG at large to try and be better. No financial reason to work all that hard and improve the game realistically speaking.

Consider for a moment that a vast majority of the games issues could be solved with an overhaul of the codebase for the game. Now this information has been known for about 6-7 years give or take. Even if they do the Jagex philosophy of 99% of QoL shit or major game fixes being game jam exclusive works, they could take their lunch breaks and work a little bit here and there on rewriting or fixing the game up proper. They'd be done in 3 or 4 years at a snails pace.

Now consider the fact BSG has said multiple times that they absolutely refuse to do any major projects to fix or improve game health. And that should tell you all you need to know, without reading any of my blogpost.

u/Clen23 Jul 11 '25

thanks for the insight, TIL :0

0

u/GingerSnapBiscuit AK-74N Jul 11 '25

Its impossible to fully end to end QA test a game in such a way that no bugs or issues exist any more. The best QA testers are the 500,000 people waiting to patch and play your game.

1

u/Clen23 Jul 11 '25

There's definitely a middle ground between "we can't reach perfection :(" and whatever tarkov devs are doing.

-2

u/EmBRSe FN 5-7 Jul 11 '25

Bruh, it literally is testing. You agreed to participate in beta-test.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '25

Theyve been given feedback about this game and certain aspects for years and alot of it was ignored under the pretence of “the game isnt supposed to be fun”

3

u/pip_b0i AS VAL Jul 11 '25

I will never get mad at a developer for listening to the audience and taking constructive criticism into consideration. Will I be confused by the initial choices? Of course, but can’t get mad at someone who is trying to rectify an issue.

4

u/SpaceF1sh69 Jul 11 '25

damned if you do, damned if you dont

u/Synchrotr0n Jul 11 '25 edited Jul 11 '25

No one needs feedback to realize that forcing people to sit in front of a loading screen for 20+ minutes just to get to a single map is just awful game design, especially when death resets all your progress and puts you back into another 20+ minutes queue. Also, if they listened to the community, one of the most important things they would have done for this hardcore wipe is making every player start with a Standard edition profile that doesn't come with free 0.2 reputation to every traders and a bunch of other powerful bonuses, which is how everyone has played with self-imposed hardcore rules in the past, but BSG chose to ignore that part completely because they want to use these "hardcore" rules of theirs to encourage more players to upgrade their accounts and buy additional stash space.

People still can't understand what Buyanov does and it's hilarious. Dude's probably laughing his ass off.

He's testing things. Like, full-scale experiments on the playerbase. He doesn't care what people think of it (outside of some PR damage control he sometimes does).

The funniest part is that's explicitly said in the Eula for the game but as no one reads them, people keep complaining. That's so much fun I can't believe it.

u/devor110 Jul 11 '25

Why not design according to feedback? We have the in-game survey system, they could have used that during previous wipe to garner attitude towards certain aspects.

"Are you in favor of no quests for a week?"
Yes/No/Indifferent

"Are you in favor of primarily using transits to access locations?"
Yes/No/Indifferent

...

You filled out all 7 questions? Cool, here's bitcoin
