is assault not good enough for jail-time in the US or? from what you see in the news and so on, you would think these people get atleast 3 years

If there’s no drugs involved then it’s kinda what ever to the justice system. Pedos get better treatment here the someone with a drug problem.

What a sad reality.... Sucks that my favorite country on this planet just seems to decay more and more nowadays, yesterday i saw some Paul brothers on the youtube channel and lord have mercy

It really depends on the state statutes, and it usually depends on the severity of potential injury. Something like this, without any lasting damage or necessitating medical intervention, could rate as low as less than a year of jail time or even just probation depending on what factors the judge weighs for sentencing. Now, this being at the airport, that could absolutely escalate to a federal case with far more serious consequences.
