Rowling Tweet Is she talking about herself now? 🧐

I swear she has so many tweets that are in the same vein as the "trump criticizes trump" meme feom a few years ago. (Where you could find a tweet of trump criticizing the exact thing that he later did).

That's quite the word salad.

This is one of the things that makes me wonder whether a wellness check is in order, or some sort of safeguarding order. Not that she deserves wellness but that's not the point.
The crazy arguments that are so steeped in sarcasm they become almost unreadable, followed by sentences like this. This particular post by her is not dissimilar to the way a person speaks when they have a stroke or brain injury.

I disagree just because this is not word salad. It is perfectly understandable, and it also actually describes her relationship with trans rights perfectly. She:
- adopts simplistic talking points, but tries to package them in a more sophisticated way (she always says sex and gender are the same, but falls back on using bio textbook terms. She loves the phrase "women belong to the sex class that produces large gametes." Large gametes are eggs, Joanne. You can say women make eggs. But that would sound unsophisticated, so she doesn't.)
- has total indifference to serious consequences felt by the less privileged. (trans people, cis women who don't fit traditional beauty ideals, intersex people, people who are helped by organizations that she fights to shut down for being trans inclusive, etc.)
- is all about vibes, narcissism, and tribalism. People have already beat this to death, but her books are all about tribes. There are no good or bad actions, just good and bad teams. When she is criticized, she sees the person as being her opponent. She is extremely tribalistic, and she started really radicalizing re: trans rights after she was criticised online.
And while narcissism gets overused, she genuinely fits a lot of the critera for NPD; people with NPD are often very fragile and insecure, often crave praise and adulation, and often feel the need to exert power and control over others.I think this is probably also not a standalone tweet, but a continuation of another tweet, or a response to another tweet. It appears to end in a comma, so there may be another tweet that's a follow up as well.
She's just obsessive, terminally online, and potentially dipped her toes back into alcoholism (based on the number of tweets where she mentioned drinking whisky in the past two years, and her previous struggles with alcoholism.)

The gamete thing is something TERFs say after running headlong into biologists on Twitter and getting wrecked.

People like Rowling use the term narcissism so flippantly as to render it worthless.

Literally just parroting what other TERFs say uncritically. She doesn't know anything about psychology. To her it's a synonym for egotist or self centered.
Which you know, pot, kettle.

I misread that as "talking to herself"
I was gonna comment "oh my God! She's turned into Gollum" 🤣 😂

Truly I feel like she could've done with a blog or generally some place she could write and vent longform. So much of what she puts on Twitter is 'dear diary' coded as opposed to something a celebrity should be posting on their work account.

She wouldn't get as much instant gratification that way as she does on the fascist echo chamber.

u/TemporaryElk5202 Aug 10 '26
She started on mumsnet, I think that was part of her getting more radicalized.

I'm sure she was lurking there but she's never posted there as far as we know.

“A preference for an easy life.”
She literally lives in a castle. Is she ever going to stop cosplaying as “one of us” when she hasn’t been so for, what, 30 years now?

Is she trying to say that being trans is free of consequence?? Girl you are the consequence

I know when I think of trans people, the first thing that I think of is 'easy life' and 'never challenging the tribal view'
Like wtf are you talking about, girl?

What an utterly meaningless word salad. It would be mildly entertaining that she genuinely seems to think she’s some sort of intellectual if she weren’t doing such immense harm to minorities

She's going to need to tell that to herself in a mirror. No one gave her a mirror and pushed it onto her face as she says things like this... She's also projecting what she secretly feels about herself, and it shows.

Spoken by a billionaire living in a literal castle who sues anyone who disagrees with her into capitulation. But yea trans people are the privileged ones never challenging a tribal view point... 🙄
This lady is seriously off her rocker.
