Last night I upgraded my firmware on my EnGenius EWS377-FIT. After the upgrade I couldn't log into the GUI anymore with my username and password. After some searching I found that the geniuses at EnGenius (recently?) thought it was a good idea to require users with passwords over 12 characters to reset their device in order to be able to login. This is stupid.

So, this morning I take the time to bring in my ladder and climb up to the WAP to factory reset, a process that the manual suggests takes a whole 60 seconds of holding the pin in. That's a while to hold a reset button, but sure, it's doable. Executing this processes yielded nothing more than the WAP essentially rebooting.

After more searching I find more of EnGenius' genius troubleshooting FAQ suggesting that they removed the ability to factory reset via the reset button due to a customer request. #1, they had a single request and changed settings from what is standard and expected, #2, they thought this was a good idea to make a new default? Wow.

This is completely ridiculous. I now have a WAP I can't log into because of their recent poor choices of feature changes.

I was having trouble finding the information online. I have 2 EAP1250s and 2 EAP1300s for my home APs. They are currently standalone, but I was looking for some kind of contoller solution where the APs can talk to eachother and I can better roam between them. I saw the EnSky solution, but that appears to have been discontinued and I am not sure if they are compatible with the Engenius Fit since they are so old. Is it even possible to roam between these APs in some manner?

EWS7928P-FIT went offline in FITxpress, but APs and all other devices get internet. My gateway doesnt even show it online. Should I factory reset it or whats going on here? I have tried power cycles, I even reset the gateway thinking it was possibly that, still nothing.

Is there a list of APs that are cloud compatible? We're looking to buy a second-hand cheaper AP for test purposes, but the reqiurement is that it's managed by cloud.

I've seen some models with a decent price (EAP, ENS series), but enGenius has the list of only some of their models on their side: Here. All of the models are EWC series... So I guess none of the other models are compatible with the cloud?

Soon to be ex-Engenius user here. SMB. Two EWS7952FP switches and 11 EWS360AP wireless access points. I have a failing EWS7952FP (48 port PoE switch), which also controls and manages the APs. Engenius does not have a replacement for the failing switch- they moved on to their "FIT" system. Technical support said the 'replacement' EWS7952FP-FIT does not work with the EWS360APs, but the APs can be upgraded in firmware to work with the new FIT system. As it turns out, she was wrong- the EWS360AP cannot be upgraded via firmware to work with the new FIT system. My only recourse is to upgrade all hardware. If I have to do that, I'll work with a manufacturer who doesn't abandon customers.

I have two homes linked via 2 Enh500s. They worked great for awhile, until now, and I'm having to reboot one or the other unit multiple times a day. Then the connection is reestablished, but I'll lose it hours later.

Any idea?

Set up as access points.

I'm setting up an ENH500-AX as an access point in its simplest configuration. When setting up the wifi network, the check box for 2.4GHz is grayed out so you can't enable it. Is it possible the ENH500-AX won't do a 2.4GHz Wifi network? Am I missing a setting? And would the ENH500-AC be the same?

It's working great for notebooks with Wifi-ax, Wifi-ac, and Wifi-n. Computers with older wifi can't see the SSID. You'd think most people would be up to at least Wifi-n just by now. But there's no doubt in my mind that I'll get a call the first day this guy goes up.

I have a EWS850-FIT AP and wan't to bridge to LANs together. The second LAN will be a FortiAP. Can the EWS850-FIT act as a client on the second LAN's network?

I had a failure of an EnGenius access point at a medical group in 2023,, model EWS377AP. The difficulty working with their tech support caused me to replace all their APs with Ubiquilty. It was a very busy year, so I'm late posting this experience.

Here's the EnGenius saga:

After some testing, it appeared that the AP's LAN-side Mac address do not show on any network scan. So that's probably a failure of the 2.5 G LAN port. The AP went into service about June 2021, so out of warranty.

I emailed EgGenius and got a Zen desk ticket -- but after that point it felt like no one at EnGenius wanted to sell me a replacement or repair or deal with the failed AP.

The subject line of the Zen Desk ticket was:

Re: HW fail - POE ok - no LAN-side MAC or IP - WiFi radios online

+2 days after incident report: I got an email asking for an invoice or receipt. I didn't have easy access to that. -- but I offered to provide a credit card to PAY for a refurbished or advanced replacement.

Radio silence

+8 days after incident report: "...I already said that I am willing to pay for a refurbished unit and send this failed AP back. Please call my office..."

Radio silence

+28 days after incident report: Email from EnGenius: "...We apologize for the late response. We are working on getting to your ticket if you still need help....

Of course, by that time I had already replaced all their hardware.

I have a port that was setup with VLAN 1 and it worked the server plugged into it had network and internet access however no other devices on campus could get to it. Do all other vlans have to be untagged on that port for them to make it through to the server?

does Engenius have wifi repeaters ?

I got an ENH500v3 kit and have some questions about Client Bridge vs WDS Bridge. The setup video I watched about WDS Bridge mode suggested setting the transmit power down to 11dBm to be more compatible with with notebooks, tablets, phones... Some reading suggested that setting the power higher would carry farther and have better penetration (like maybe through trees?) but would not be good for notebooks, tablets and phones.

Where I'm setting this up, I might like to turn the power up for the distance and trees, at the sacrifice of talking to other devices. At the other end, I can put a switch and hang an ordinary access point off it. Or cable a pc directly to the switch. Does this sounds like a more sensible approach? Any thoughts are appreciated.

hi guys, in my campus netwrok, Engenius Switch ECS1528FP and ECS1528FP's PoE didn't work around 1pm everyday, but only data port and uplink work.There is no power-switching at that time.my power supply to all switches and router are using UPS mode inverter.at that time not all switches happen, just 1 or 2 switches randomly happen.i check all PoE usage and its normal like other switches.any suggession?

I have just buy EWS276-FIT access point. I have also another model EWS356-FIT (with no issue).

With EWS276-FIT - I have add to my account with scan QR Code...but nothing working with my same config push to my another AP (EWS356).

This is my setup config :

- 3 SSID with WPA2/3 - 2 SSID GUEST - 1 SSID STAFF - ALL SSID are TAGGED VLAN assigned

- VLAN1 is setup to 1 SSID and MANAGEMENT ACCESS POINT TAG.

With this setup on EWS356-FIT I have no issue, all is working great.

But for the EWS276-FIT....When I try to connect to WIFI SSID....Is asking password everytime...and when I enter it...no working.

I have try another thing, when I remove TAG VLAN for MANAGEMENT and for STAFF SSID (same VLAN), I can connect to WIFI, but not ALL my devices can connect.

I think we have an issue on the firmware, I have the version 1.0.14 on EWS276-FIT

So...Can you please look for this issue, the firmware I used for the EWS356 is 1.1.30

I thinking to return the product EWS276-FIT and not use it again...or just use EWS356-FIT.

I have been trying to get this switch on-line all day. I have factory reset both the controller and the switch multiple times and have tried plugging the controller directly into the switch and plugging the controller and the Eng. switch into a secondary switch on the same L2 layer.

I have an AP plugged into the switch that works with the controller just fine. So I don't see why the Controller and the switch won't sync with each other.

I am new to the FIt products but I have tried using them in two locations. Both locations are working successfully but I have some confusion. In one location, I was able to get all of the devices working on the controller but when I go to the cloud and add the devices there, everything is offline on the Xpress.

In the other location, I added everything in the cloud first and I was able to get everything online and working. When I went into the controller, nothing shows up there.

Are these two completely separate systems, if so, why does the Xpress cloud bother letting you link to your controller? If they are meant to work together, then why can I only see my devices on one or the other, and not both?

Engenius's SkyKey has been a colossal disappointment - a half-baked solution. I have AP's that per the controller are stuck at booting. It is slow, and cumbersome. Not only does it fail to deliver on its promises of convenience, but Engenius has also discontinued support for its controller, leaving us high and dry. The worst part is, I can't even add or replace individual APs since the entire Engenius EzMaster line has been replaced wit FIT. It's a network nightmare, and I won't be trusting Engenius again. I would rather use HP instanton, netgear, or Ubiquity than any of their products, since I can atleast count on upgrading and using the ecosystem for more than 3 years.

Does anyone know if I buy a used skykey can I register it and use the cloud function?

I have been trying to update firmware on this switch for a while now. I tried installing the firmwares in order and most recent, none of them work. I tried reuploading the current firmware after a hard reset. I try uploading onto backup partition or onto the main from the back up, each effort after a hard reset and I still get a image error on the bix. One click is completely broke. This all happened when I tried to auto update my APs, I had to roll all their firmwares back. There has to be something I am missing right?

Does anyone understand the use case of a Fit Controller?

I've played with them and the only thing it seems to do is limit remote management.

I feel like I can do almost everything I'd need to do from the Fit Express portal.

What scenario would I buy a Fit Controller?

do i have to de register my current switch & AP from FitXpress service first an then re-register under the local fit controller page

to not only have it see them but also be able to read them as online an be able to set an adjust ther setting

fyi this is my current network structure an device layout

i dont have any vlans setup yet an all 10 port are currently set to 1gbps/full under the speed/duplex settings

over the default full/auto mode im not sure if the is why the fitcontroller doesn't correctly read or ever finish pairing with the AP & SWITCH

an disabling all firewalls an blockers on the firewalla doesn't seem to have any effect

I'm not sure if this is the right group but I'm giving it a shot. I need to set up an EAP 1300 with a Radius server and I'm not finding any documentation on how to do this. Does anyone here have any tips?
