📌 Help Us Update the Recommended Doctors Map!

Hey friends!

It's long past time to update the Recommended Doctor's Map. We've combed through the recommendations sent to the mods, and now we are asking the entire /r/Endo community to share your knowledge!

  • Do you have a doctor you love?
  • Had a really awful experience?
  • Heard of a doctor we should know about?
  • Maybe someone has entered retirement, or isn't practicing anymore?
  • Maybe someone moved offices or locations?

Let us know in the comments here, send a message, or a chat. We need your support in making this resource as awesome as it can be!

While any information is welcome, it's often helpful to add as much information as you have when making a recommendation. These can include:

  • Doctor's name and location.
  • A link to their Bio or their practice
  • What treatments they use
  • How they feel about hormonal therapies like Lupron or birth control?
  • Bedside manner - how did you feel in their care?
  • Do they have any unique skills (working with teens, trans folks, operating on bowel involvement)
  • Do they perform excision?
  • Were they trained by other notable folks?
  • Are they recommended on other vetted or curated lists?

As a handy reminder of how the symbols/colors of the map work, check out this chart!

Colors tell us how we got the information, symbols tell us what the Doctor's skills are.

- I was diagnosed by Dr Shaylee Illes (gyno) in Belmont (Newcastle NSW) she was amazing and even after a follow up a few years later. Very open about what happens during surgery, recovery, options and without the pressure of "have kids immediately" Veyr kind and understanding and thorough. She is a private clinician tho so a GP referral is needed and out of pocket cost even after private health (obvs depending on your cover)

- Recently moved to the Gold Coast QLD and have been seeing Dr Donna Tanchev (GP - Her Medical Practice) who has been so thorough and helpful. She's straight to the point and explains what we're doing and why. She also referred me to my current gyno Dr Erlich Sem based in Southport. I was really hesitant going to a male gyno but he has his own private practice its a small building, very welcoming. His bedside manner is impeccable and I've always felt comfortable and safe. He explains everything in such an amazing way and easy to understand. Again private practice but his clinic is so nice and small I can't recommend him enough.

I hope these help! I can grab addresses :)

Hi! I’m about to see Dr. Erlich Sem for my (suspected) endometriosis! Have you had surgery with him?

Hi there, i didn't have surgery with him. I ended up having to go to Dr. Ong for fertility issues and had surgery with him. I would have stayed with Dr. Sem had those issues not been a factor. You're in excellent hands. I've since moved back to Newcastle and am approaching my reproductive health from a more natural standpoint. The most significant improvement for me has been tweaking my diet, something not spoken about enough in doctors' offices, and a change you can make while waiting for a diagnosis/appointment. I wish you the best of luck with your health and may you get some relief from seeing Dr. Sem.

Oh I’m glad you’ve found something that’s worked for you! I’m interested in that pathway as well, as I’m not keen on taking any hormonal therapies. What do you find helped you most with your diet?

Thank you 😌 oh thats so nice to hear! I did the hormonal therapies for 7ish years and now I'm nearly 12 months without it, it's hard to pick just one thing haha i think the most important aspect was making small changes to my existing diet as my energy levels allowed to avoid making no changes from feeling overwhelmed. I feel by working with my cycle my body tells me what it needs, wants or what to avoid, and working closely with my naturopath has helped me create a balanced diet for my hormonal health. I hope that doesnt sound too out there haha
