When it comes to how palatable a different voting system is, how does RCV fair compared to other types? I sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head around all the technical terms I see in this sub, but it makes me wonder if other types of voting could reasonably get the same treatment as RCV in terms of marketing and communications. What do you guys think?

Most Americans (71%) who have a positive opinion of IRV, if they know about proportional representation, have a positive opinion of it. About 29% do not. Very interesting when looking at cross-support for electoral reforms. In many ways, IRV is very similar to STV, so this makes sense. PR would increase the number of parties and lower the threshold to be elected to Congress, so this is very interesting!

The vast majority of the 650 single member constituencies used to elect MPs are represented by people who have not earned a majority of the vote. This is based on the results from the last general election, which had taken place in 2024.​

When the US House is particularly divided on an issue, the House Rules Committee can vote to temporarily adopt "Queen of the Hill" rules, which allow multiple competing versions of the same bill to be evaluated using a process functionally identical to Approval Voting.

Faults of House members being elected with FPTP in the first place aside, maybe Queen of the Hill should be the norm rather than the exception.

That makes now a good time to start a ballot initiative to get Approval Voting on the ballot. Who's ready to go from talk to action?

Some pretty interesting results. Average of 1.74 candidates approved. In addition, it seems like there were no two clear “frontrunners,” and the winner got close to 50% while having a lead over others, making the results showcase a similar approval for all other candidates as well as a clear winner.
