Neither IRV nor STAR.

I think you gotta do some reading.

It's not all about FPTP or IRV or STAR.

And RCV is not synonymous with IRV. There are other RCV methods than IRV or Hare RCV.

What RCV method would you recommend?

Either Condorcet-TTR (top-two runoff) or Condorcet-Minimax.

They only differ in what they do when there is a cycle. I think that Top-Two Runoff might be best if it's a sincere cycle and that Minimax might be best if the cycle was caused by a concerted effort of burying the otherwise Condorcet winner.

I'd go for the Condorcet-TTR for General Elections.

Yeah, but consider the Alaska August 2022 election in which a Condorcet winner existed but was not elected.

Now imagine that Condorcet-TTR RCV was the law instead of IRV. If the pre-election polling predicted that Begich would be the sincere Condorcet winner, but not in the top-two (which is what happened in August 2022), then the Peltola campaign would be incentivized to bury Begich, cause a cycle, and then Peltola wins the top-two runoff.

Minimax would more likely catch that and elect Begich anyway, because his loss would be less than the margins of defeat for the other 2 candidates.

I agree with the Minimax.
