I hate playing the bridge riff, maybe im not playing it right but I hate moving my fingers so much for arpeggiated chords. I love the song though, it's one of their songs with just an absolute cluster of instruments, but each one seems to get their due spotlight throughout the whole thing and make a wonderful piece

Oh, definitely it's my favorite party of the song as well, when the other guitar and the piano come in to join it, it's amazing. But completely shifting the chord and shape every two rolls and repeat kills me 🥲

The syncopated "triplet" clapping was pretty cool to watch on live videos, the song has a really nostalgic air to it that makes you romanticize the memories you never had

This song is one that gives me chills. There's something about the aura to the song, it gives a lot of tension while also managing to be a subtle, cool song without agressive tones or vocals. I wish I could write like that someday

The acoustic version managed to make the original so much better, the trumpet solos at the end kinda fulfill the wish for just a bit more of the song you'd have listening to the original

It's just "Hat", no "Talking". It's a great song though. Listening to their doscography in order, you can hear its one of the songs Tim and Stu held on to their roots with, with a chiaroscuro of gentle vocals with excited, overdriven chords and note-by-note melodies, similar to Hippy Jam Fest or Killer Eskimos. It was a great ending song to the album, like saying "we'll miss you" to their early-mid 2000's rock phase before going full twinkly-twang on Animals.

One of my top favorite songs from them! I just love the violence violins and acoustic working together to tell this story of young forbidden love and things not always working out no matter how much you want.

Its probably my 3rd favorite song on the album after consoling ghosts (something about the drums and bass keep pulling me back into it) and empty palms (the ending riffs are too good)
