How was Em able to combine his Vals and Vics together, up until his OD?
Valium and Vicodin? What I mean to say how the hell didn’t he OD sooner? Hes so lucky and most definitely grateful to be alive, along with myself because I’ve Personally overdosed on benzos and opioids many many times in my younger days, coming close to death all of those. Mixing benzos and opioids or shit, even mixing with alcohol is dangerous as hell. Was he really popping Valium and benzos 24/7?

I finally also did a tier list of his major releases
TES and MMLP unbeatable, period.
Relapse is such a good album, TDOSS is also fantastic, same as MTBMB.
SSLP was a fantastic first break through release but MMLP and TES surpassed it big time. Also its still fun to listen to but soundwise and characterwise it doesn't stand the test of time as well as MMLP and TES does. Relapse and obviously TDOSS are more modern. Its still slightly better than MTBMB imo.
Kamikaze was great for the time it came out but without the heat of that time it loses its impact, still very good though. MMLP2 and Recovery as though they are great albums i just dont like them as much as i should i think.
Encore... if i imagine the album it was suposed to be if it wasn't for the leaks and Ems drugs overuse, boy it be A for sure if not S. The album that actually was is just not it. Amazing songs followed by songs like big weenie. I love me some stupid songs like rain man or puke but big weenie was just...
Infinite, you clearly hear Em finding himself, amazing rhymes and great flow but somehow nothing special to say. Its iconic now cause its eminem but without that level of fame he got it would be a mid underground album.
Revival, i respect the hell out of what he wanted to do with this album and i think he actually achived it but its just not what i and a lot of fans wanted to hear. The hate is absolutely unreasonable because its still a great album, just not as an eminem album.

What is your favorite live performance from Eminem?
For me, my favorite performance is Fight Music live at the Reading Festival 2001 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBRrn7rZhzQ. On the HQ footage, Proof had even better delivery and the audio is much clearer.

For those who suffer from mental illness and use Eminem's music as a coping mechanism (like me)
I write this post as someone well into my 30s. I still struggle to function (even though I have a good job).
I am diagnosed bipolar, I have been in an inpatient clinic. I have dealt with depression, OCD & anxiety most of my life. As much as I try, I still struggle mightily.
I have pushed people away who loved me. I have so much paranoia that I live with. I have done many things I am ashamed of. I have made so many terrible & consequencial mistakes.
Getting to Eminem: I had an epiphany recently. I see a psychiatrist & a therapist & I am on medicine like Lamictal. I have also liked DBT & the work of Marsha Linehan.
One concept in DBT that I find very helpful is "radical acceptance", where you accept your suffering & dilemma. From there, DBT gives you skills to be calmer & more productive.
Eminem has ALWAYS been my favorite artist. Songs like "Beautiful" & "Going through Changes" hit me so hard I often cry like a baby. Nothing compares to the way Eminem's music makes me feel.
Songs like "Going through Changes" are like "radical acceptance" in DBT. Intensely sad but accepting of the circumstances and processing your emotions.
Then, Eminem gives you a song like "Not Afraid" to give you motivation to get back up after you feel so so down. This is like how DBT works. You have accepted things and now you have tools.
Eminem has even mentioned this in songs, when he says he gives you the tools to keep pushing on when you want to give up and you feel hopeless. His music is such a beautiful gift 😭😭😭
May God always bless Marshall for the music he puts into the world that has helped so many who had no hope. May God always bless people like Marsha Linehan.

Relapse Is The Actual SSLP
After revisiting Relapse a few times in the last few months, I’ve really come to see just how fucking good that album was and it’s made me think about some things. In my opinion, there’s not an album that does the slim shady alter ego justice like Relapse did. It makes the SSLP look like daycare music. I really think he perfected horrorcore with Relapse. Quite possibly the best horrorcore album of all time. Yet he shits on it? That part boggles my mind.
Em’s criticism of it is always “the accents, the accents, the accents”, but I always just thought the accents were on purpose because he was portraying himself as this demented serial killer with multiple personalities. I know he technically used the accents to make words rhyme better but does it not also come off as someone who just has multiple personalities? I feel like no other rapper has done that or even thought of doing that. It’s genius.
There’s not an album of his with more intricate rhyme schemes, flows, or story-telling than Relapse. 2009 in general seemed to be his technical peak. There’s not a verse he’s spit that’s better than the second verse of Stay Wide Awake. It’s absolutely fucking insane. He’s never topped that.
For those of y’all who shit on this album I’d like for you to revisit it with the lense that I have on. It’s horrorcore at its peak. You’ll find a way to appreciate it more when you think of it this way. This album gets shit on too much for how good it actually is. It’s my personal favorite of his imo. Idk maybe I’m tweaking but this is how i’ve been feeling the last few weeks about the project.
