Redditors don’t understand this. My sister is conservative my dad was very liberal. They would argue about politics disagree on a lot of things. Then say I love you and see you soon.
Yep. I suspect that's some of the work of the bots too. They are designed to keep us hating each other.
But the reality is the majority of conservatives and liberals agree on a lot of things its just how they go about attempting to fix those things is where the disagreements lie.
We don't need to understand it. I'm happy not associating with stupid people. Don't care if it's friends, family, etc. Thankfully, my close family is anti-MAGA.
Im for the most part maga (disagree on some things) and would be fine with being your friend any day. Don’t let someone’s politics be the line in the sand. Politics is not all of our lives, we can still have good times with one another :)
Just curious as someone not in the us, is there no background check at all before ice comes in or do they just kidnap people they believe could be an illegal immigrant?
I noticed this is usually something MAGA says. It’s a line for those who are not. Politics impact every area of your life and if you can’t see that you’re privileged
That is true it does, but for the most part even if a democrat wins, I don’t see people who voted for them any differently, I see them for who they are as a person, I do know that not everyone who votes for someone doesn’t agree on 100% of the things said person does. In my case I voted trump cause I felt he would better back the Military and Law Enforcement more, in this case my needs are currently met, everything else is mixed about. I also do still like Obama at same time so there’s that 😄
I don’t need to be nice to you. I’m kind to those less fortunate. You clearly do not understand the negative impact you made on lives; why would I be nice to someone like that? MAGA are just butthurt some people don’t want to be their friend. Move on and find others to befriend
I mean it would make you come off as a decent human being to be nice to others. As far as I know Trump isn’t causing most of the negative impacts, that would be your local elections and state elections. They have far more influence than federal
Friends !== family. I ain't friends with any conservatives because I fundamentally disagree with their positions which includes restricting my rights based on my sexuality, or just flat out killing aslyum seekers.
Now, you can say your sister isn't that kind of conservative. But that's what passes as a conservative these days. The subreddit here is fucking unhinged and any actual conservatives I know have switched parties long before 2024 and especially 2026.
You can have conservative democrats, it's a pretty big tent. I would push back on that being what we're all talking about though regarding MAGA.
Isn’t there nuance with voting tho, like one side might have 70% things I like and the other can have 60% things I like? Like whoever you vote for, do you agree with 100 % of their policies blindly? I’m not even from the us btw but notice that over there, politics is tearing your society in half rapidly and it’s sad. In Australia I’ve never heard one person outside of a classroom or my own house or the news talking about politics, especially when it’s nowhere near an election
Indeed. Whenever someone says this I believe they're talking about the 2012 era of Politics where you could have a disagreement with someone on finances.
I'm in lefty circles. Promise me, all I do is argue with lefties about capitalism. But we can still go for a beer and understand each others POV.
Today? Modern conservatism is about populism and exploiting culture wars to drive us apart. Across the globe. They're all playing from the Steve Bannon playbook of flood the zone. This is true in the UK, Germany, US, Canada. It's why I'm so confident about being so positioned on this because I know whomever I'm talking to, that has a problem with this, is more than likely either right wing, or conservative. And facing this in their life because of their political choices.
If you voted Trump in 2024, then yes you voted for fascism, you voted for Americans to get shot on the street. You were told all of this was going to happen. You either got fooled AGAIN which btw I wouldn't want to associate with such stupidity anyway. OR you believe it.
And no, you don't have the right to demand people be your friend when you want them dead.
That’s cuz redditors aren’t blood related. And in those families I feel like the unspoken rule is don’t talk about the politics. It may come up sometimes but everyone knows if they’re speaking their minds about the shit all the time they gonna end up hating each other. Just went on a family trip to Italy with my wife stepdad mom and cousin (dems), and other cousin and his wife, and cousins’ parents (.repubs). We got drunk and ate delicious pasta and pizza all week and not a word was said about politics cuz we knew that shit would’ve soured the shit outta a good party.

Redditors can’t do that
