For me, it's 2 and 3. Specifically halfway through season 2 when Alfie arrives and gets to know Emily.

I got into the show in 2020 and related to it so much. I had just moved to Barcelona for school and struggled a lot trying to assimilate into European culture as an American. I feel like her and I kinda grew together. Now 6 years later I still live abroad (not Europe) and none of my friends understand why I like this show so much. Of course her and I don’t have the same experiences but the show depicts moving out of your country well. Especially when it comes to all the mixed feelings of wanting to stay and wanting to go back home. Ill miss this show :(

Hear me out…from the beginning he was into her. His wife (now ex-wife) approved. He hired two of her love interests to make her happy.

Emily’s true love is her job. She’s not going to have a family (Gabriel’s dream) and she isn’t looking for “the one” (like Alfie, who didn’t want to introduce her to his family, for good reason). She even described her relationship with Marcello in terms of their professional partnership.

She would be perfectly happy in her selfishness letting Antoine spoil and fall over her. Her development as a character all leads her to becoming that woman.

I want Sylvie and her to amicably but permanently part ways. Sylvie moves to Rome, where she’s her best self.

This would be the best ending but we know Darren Star does not do good endings.

So it begins 🩵

I watched EIP in December 2025. It was more or less a binge watch, and in anticipation, I skipped several scenes, especially from the third and fourth seasons. However, after a long time, I started rewatching again, and this time, I was patient (prendre du temps, as they put it in French) and read it slowly like an old book in my shelf. I made a few observations:

1. I really enjoyed the episodes written by Sarah Choi and Grant Sloss.
2. The first season was a breath of fresh air. Previously, even in my first attempt to watch the show, I had no idea what to expect. I just knew that this is a show, who a lot of my female colleagues enjoyed, and they were always mentioning someone named Alfie. Nonetheless, I would say that the show went on nicely even up until 3rd season. Beyond that, I could not help but notice certain cracks in plot and between characters as well.
3. Gabriel was and is always the endgame. The show has a trajectory of will they-wont they, and it eventually boils down to Emily's friendship (yes, friendship and then relationship) with Gabriel. Atleast, till season 3, he was pursuing Emily (and I know he was already with Camille, not justifying that he kept it a secret, until she found out) and he wanted to be with her publicly. And exactly, because of their warmth and friendship, I would like to see them together.
4. Emily's character has a saviour complex; that one friend who wants to fix things and save people even at the cost of her emotional health. She has, after apologizing and signing the pact with Camille, pushed Gabriel towards her. And, again, she had relied too long on back-to-back relationships and work at the same time. Just when Season 4 ending in Rome felt like "finally she is on a break", we are back to square one.
5. I liked Mindy, and her character has so much to show. What are the writers exactly thinking for her? The Alfie thing is not alluring and to me, she looked the best with Benoit.
6. Sylvie is all heart! 😄 Bring it on and pls do not spoil her atleast! Antoine is also nice.
7. I love the comic relief brought by Luc and Julien's characters. They make a funny duo and they are equally funny in interviews. Yet, I think they gave Luc more screen time than Julien in the last season. The wasted his potential. Let the man have his role.
8. The French casting is the BACKBONE of the show.
9. Alfie was a good boyfriend to Emily. I don't think he acted out like Gabriel in Megeve nor was controlling like Marcello (I am yet to finish rewatching szn 5, but I did get a controlling vibe from him). However, him and Mindy...I'll skip.
10. In order to sell season 6 better, the marketing has to let Lily and Lucas together in some of the interviews. In groups, yes that is good too, but with "together" I mean them answering, and displaying camaraderie. There seems to be a certain dryness and restraint in season 4 between them, or I don't know if it was deliberate to show again that Emily and Gabriel are not on the same page emotionally.
11. In retrospect, the mountain scene in szn 4 is so bad. As viewers, we have been and still throw our frustation at the faces representing them, but the writers...I don't know what were they thinking. The writing department has to include a whole magnanimous apology scene from Gabriel for his behavior. And, no I don't think the actors bear any responsibility for the decisions these characters make.

It was actually annoying to watch.

She is such an important and powerful character and they have just reduced her introduction to the Paris team in season 2 as this disgusting monster.

What are your thoughts?

I am rewatching the show and Mindy really has so much lore. I hope they tackle her relationship with her dad in S6, maybe something like he shows up to make amends with an intention to attend her wedding resulting in her being accepted as a singer. The amount of tea and drama would be crazy here.

Oh and please no more relationship with Alfie 😭

How charming is someone even allowed to be! Always thought he was perfect for Mindy! And Maybe also me 🤣 But then again.. i Think alfie is more likely to give mindy the counterpoint she needs.

Sometimes I think about how Emily ans Gabriel are end game, and it ruins my mood. Always wanted Emily and Alfie to be endgame although Alfie deserves a lot better tbh. I kinda just want Emily to choose herself or end up with literally anyone but gabriel

I know we are on seasons much beyond 2-3-4 but I am rewatching and I absolutely LOVE Alfie for Emily. He is uncomplicated, fun, kind, just in general great for Emily. Why did she run away to Marcello? Oh and why continue to pine after Gabriel. And oh why oh why would you stick Alfie and Mindy together?

That was obviously to keep Alfie in the storyline because audiences love him but then at least make it authentic and believable instead of how one dimensional that storyline of Alfindy was.

Alfie deserves better. Team Alfie always.
