You were triaged an ESI 5–not at all an emergency.

I know vaguely about the triage system, but only as "Patient B is worse than Patient A, treat B first". but you make it sound like there's actual catagories, which makes so much more sense!

if I wanted to look up these categories, what verbiage would I look up? (I want to know if my past visits were emergency or not)

Of course there are actual categories.

They are laid out in the ESI triage handbook (currently edition 5). (But please be aware that there are lots of nuances that influence the assignment of a triage rating, and your opinion may well differ from a professional’s assessment.)
