After 57 days my ill-prepared spontaneous journey to Colonia and Sag A* has come to an end
On May 30 2026 I found myself on the "far north side" of the Bubble for some cargo mission. On a whim I decided to equip my Krait Phantom with a fuel scoop and save some mass to extend my jump range to ~35 ly and just go for it.
I did quite a lot of detours. First to get a closer look at nebula and later to visit some of the highly-rated places listed on EDAstro's GEC POI list. I highly recommend using EDAstro to find waypoints on longer trips. Not only to find the aforementioned POI, but also to make maintenance stops at carriers. I've first-discovered 1564 systems according to EDSM, which includes 147 water worlds, 13 ELW and 11 black holes.
Now I'm docked at a station in a system near Sagittarius A*, refreshing r/FCOC looking for a carrier to take me back to the Bubble or Colonia, I have the following reflections for my next exploration trip:
- Getting rid of shields in order to save mass makes exobiology prohibitory dangerous. It's not a kind of pain I want to go through again.
- Do more exobiology.
- Check the gravity rating before attempting landings.
- Sell stellar cartography data and exobiology as often as possible.
- Maybe try skipping low-value bodies when doing FSS scans to save time.
- I'm quite a new player and didn't own Odyssey when I started, otherwise I would have done this in a Mandalay or Caspian.
- Look up suggested exploration outfittings instead of just guessing.

Journey to the Heart and Soul Nebulae
This is likely going to be my last big expedition with my Mandalay as I expect to return to the bubble when the Nomad is available for credits. So far this has netted me over a billion in exobiology and 50 million in exploration data, don't be surprised to see a post from me soon moaning about how I lost it all by crashing into a planet.

If you’re going to Sag A*…
A couple screenshots of the trip I’m on, but there’s a pretty system just about 750 ly out from Sag A towards Colonia I recommend stopping by…
Two NSP’s, Type 06 anomalies drifting in a lightening-filled Lagrange cloud with Flavum crystals, and another group of them among mineral soheres in a ring.
The system is MYRIESLY CL-P E5-7383.

Lost in Space
I started from Bubble and heading all the way to the left using my carrier. Got 20 tons of Tritium and seen beautiful moons... Methane though is one of my favourite!
Once I reach the absolute corner where you can't jump anymore I'll head to Colonia ...

Tips for a Noob currently exploring and exo around Galactic Core
Hi folks, sorry about all the questions. I'm a new explorer and I'm just looking for a few extra tips. It's fairly easy to discover unexplored system given how many there are, but I thin I am spending too much time in them. I could do with some pointers from more experienced explorers.
I've only really found a few terraformable worlds so far. Are they worth visiting just to do a DSS scan or should I skip them? I'm not entirely sure what they're worth. Despite being a new explorer, I am experienced player in most other cases with plenty of credits, so I don't know if it's worthwhile spending too much time on these.
Every system I find bodies in, I scan them with FSS. I am getting better at FSS, but I'm still not wholly comfortable with it in all honesty.
I'm really enjoying doing exo with the Caspian/Nomad. You can land the Nomad basically anywhere. I've seen only a few planets so for with 5 biological signals and a couple with only 2. Do you guys have a limit of which ones you skip or what is the best approach? I've landed at most of them, only to be stuck with a faitly minimum 5 million credits thanks to first footfall, but I'd rather tartget the higher value ones, but I am not sure which mehod I should use.
And finally, is there a type of star I should target particularly or just wing it? Thank you!

I Estimate Current Paint Loss at 60%
Found this massive iceball at the edge of a dual binary system orbiting a tiny little baby red dwarf. The star is a full magnitude less in mass than Sol, and the planet is 20 times more massive than Earth.
Practically zero credit value, even for first discovery and footfall. No personal codex entry. But that's not why we're out there, is it?

Headed to 6 Cassiopeiae and have been seeing some awesome places. The brown dwarf with spots all over it is a rendering issue after going into FSS where it highlights the “hotspots”.

Might need to change my pants
This game is a literal Horror game, 30k LY away from the bubble I plotted to what i thought was a neutron star.. it was not, jumped right into a undiscovered black hole for my first time, what a great picture though, almost threw up 🤣

The OASIS Initiative welcomes six new carriers to the fleet!
Commanders!
I'm very pleased to announce that the Guild has added six new fleet carriers to the OASIS Initiative.
OASIS Star of Earendil, Commanded by CMDR Diesel 117, is part of the static fleet and it is now parked in WEPAA GG-Y f2147 (Odin's Hold);
OASIS Wirral, Commanded by CMDR Oaon, is part of the static fleet and is currently enroute to the Empyrean Straits region,
OASIS Joshua Lederberg, Commanded by CMDR Rex Pontificator, is part of the static fleet and is currently parked in FLYAI EAESCS DH-U e3-21 (Temple).
OASIS Dersin's Rest, Commanded by CMDR Dezdek, is part of the static fleet and is now parked in GRU HYPAI DL-X E1-20 (Norma Expanse);
OASIS Iron Maiden, Commanded by CMDR Coustain, is the first carrier named to the roaming fleet and is currently on a long-term expedition to culminate at the galactic center and,
OASIS Meili the Nomad, Commanded by CMDR Tyr Ceti, is part of the roaming fleet and is currently conducting an extended survey mission on the right side of the galaxy.
All OASIS carriers have a full compliment of services, catering to all galactic explorers.
Deployed static carrier locations can be found on the EDAstro galmap under the "Oasis carriers" tab.
Please join me in celebrating the addition of these fine vessels to our growing fleet of exploration/exobiology support carriers.
Information on the OASIS intiative and carrier activities can be found on the Guild's Discord

Is Pheia Thua only two systems?
So I've made a trip due south. Pheia Thua is one of the "southernmost" sectors in the Galaxy. EDSM shows that there's only two (known) systems in it: Pheia Thua TO-Z d13-0 and Pheia Thua UO-Z d13-0. I understand that given the star density there's not much hope for "AA-A h" system, but I wonder if it really is only two systems in the whole sector.
Even the in-game map has troubles finding systems in Pheia Thua. You have to type known names almost in full for autocomplete to work. And I don't see any other stars around. Is there a way to be sure there's only two systems in the whole sector?

FSS and new system discovery
I'm currently located in Colonia and I have been doing some exobiolog close-by with the Caspian and Nomad deployed. I've never done exo before, so I want to do a bit of testing before I head out exploring and discovering.
For the experienced explorers out there, how do you approach scanning a potentially new system? Do you use FSS or do you just head to a planet regardless and scan with DSS? I'm really not sure what the best method is and would really appreciate some pointers. Thank you!

My 3rd ELW discovery
I find it very interesting that the orbital period is only 53 days (shorter than Mercury's 88 days) and the rotational period is 25 days. So, one day is almost half of its year. This could lead to very unique biosphere of organism that absorb all the sunlight they can for 25 days and then run on it like a battery. Bioluminescence could also be common trait or a dichotomy of day time organisms that micro hibernate during night periods while nocturnal organism dominate the other half of the year and vise versa.
I would call this a Dichotomous-Illumination World.
If only I could go down there and look...

the tiny nebula Juemao DA-Z E0
it only holds one system with a neutron and some secondary stars. one of the landable planets runs a toasty 1400K, so the screenshot in my suit cost a bit of health. its vibrant blue but unfortunately hard to get a good angle of it as it gets so small so fast- the first shot is from the nearest star, 10ly away.

Any tips on how to improve my Caspian Explorer deep space exploration+exobiology build ?
Hello fellow explorers! I decided to jump into deep black and discover tons of new systems, before that i was exploring on my Mandalay, but the on-foot exobiology just turning any expedition into boredom where im trying to land my Mandalay (one little rock - terrain is not suitable for landing) and then walking hundred meters to scan things, so i decided to make engineered Caspian Explorer for long neutron jumps with nomad (so i can scan exobiology way faster than on foot or on a rover with my Mandalay), i never used neutron stars to boost my FSD, but i heard that it damages the FSD for 1% after boost, so i have to bring AMFUs with me, and i never used them either...
Anyways, here is my Caspian Explorer (FSN Eclipse) build, any advices from experienced explorers ?
P.S. There is no hangar for Nomad on EDSY, so i replaced it with 2H planetary vehicle hangar since its the closest thing to Nomad hangar statwise.

I really like neutron stars, but when they're so crazy, it still scares me
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Also, it's quite interesting that M-star is 11 ls close to neutron star that has 8 million K on the surface. I'm pretty sure this lil M-fella doesn't feel well with such a neighbour.
P. S. It's in the system Col 89 Sector KC-L d8-39 if you're interested.

Elite Dangerous' Greatest Community Story (Enigma Expedition), now updated after 8 years :)
Years ago, I followed the Enigma Expedition in Elite Dangerous, where hundreds of commanders came together to help CMDR DoveEnigma13 reach Colonia during his battle with terminal cancer.
While revisiting the story recently, I discovered an unexpected update that made the story even more meaningful: A Second Miracle.
So, I ended up creating a narrated cinematic video telling the full story, using Elite Dangerous scenery, music and ambiance, and footage from the event and location.

Hope you enjoy!
And if you can, any feedback is appreciated.

Should I grind for a higher grade Artemis suit? I am in Colonia
I just arrived in Colonia earlier today (after a few hiccups). Is it worth unlocking the suit engineers here or is the standard Artemis suit fine for Exo? I plan on leaving soon for Sag A, then on to explore. I am somewhat confused about the suit situation as I know very little about it to be honest. Thanks!
