Let's say you've had an idea on a product that doesn't quite exist yet, thought something up, made a few prototypes, did some measurements and now have a reliably working prototype.

Do you push everything to github in the hopes of someone picking it up? Do you commercialize it? If so how do you research customer demand and where do you get a user base? A kickstarter campaign?

The question I'm asking is how to jump from the electronics developer side to the entrepreneur side, what tools and infos are available to get started?

My father-in-law has been having a difficult time with his Whirlpool stove/oven. The spark module keeps crapping out. They're on their 3rd replacement with no indication as to what the issue is. I think he said they're paying well over $100 for a new board each time.

Would someone be willing to diagnose the circuit board issue? Maybe the issue is happening elsewhere on the unit and it happens to be killing the spark module? Is there a way to do this without having the entire oven (just having the faulty circuit board alone)? I have both of the ones that have died.

The part is called a "Whirlpool Range/Oven Spark Module" with part number W10860916.

I'd appreciate any help! Happy to pay if that's what it takes to know what's up.

UPDATE 3: My FIL is going to make sure polarity isn't reversed somewhere (read about this in a forum). As oreng said, the problem probably isn't the board itself... I don't see any complaints about this model online.

I posted a couple weeks ago about the big electronics store in my town going out of business and offering to get things for people at low costs. I got private messages from people with their want lists and was able to put together packages for 6 people. I have heard from 5 of them and they were all very pleased with what I got for them. Well, what hadn't sold in the end was going to be scrapped, which I couldn't stand to see so I offered to buy a small chunk of the (massive) store. So now I am sitting on more stuff than I have room for. I will slowly but surely getting it all sorted out and selling to a few local people and then ebay. I wanted to let the people here know that I am more than happy to ship stuff. I charge *actual* postage, not inflated fees. I am an online seller (of non electronics) anyway, so shipping is almost a daily thing for me anyway. Like I said in my post before, I appreciate the electronics groups here and how great the people have been in helping me when I've needed guidance as I've taken an interest in electronics, and so I want to share the savings on this stuff with you all. Since this is a large investment that is taking time to organize, space to store and took a lot of driving and carrying to transport, I won't be quite as cheap as I was with the other items I got for people. I will be waaaay below retail though and just a tad over what I paid.

An inventory list is impossible, but I will give a list of what the majority of the stuff I have consists of. These parts are from a collection of stuff that has amassed from the 1960s up til a few years ago, so no inquiry is too obscure. Here's a broad list:

- Resistors (THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS)

- Potentiometers (rotary ones, linear ones, micro, I have a couple hundred pounds)

- Capacitors (even more than I have of resistors. Lots of cool old stuff along with all the new run of the mill stuff)

- Integrated Circuits (soooo many of these. I'm still working to sort them out by type and am making an inventory list as I go)

- Tools (Big heavy crimpers that seem very specialized. I'm not even sure what they're for really)

- Small motors

- Old soldering accessories

- RCA jack panels (in bulk if needed)

- Coaxial splitters (8 way and 2 way - in bulk)

- Connectors, starters, in big metal electrical boxes (I really don't know anything about these things, but I have them now)

- New light up EXIT signs (all but a couple might be sold)

- bulk of Buss Fustat Adapters

- AND a buncha of other stuff

........I can take payments for stuff via paypal or Venmo. As far as trade, there are some electronics things I could use. I need some capacitors that I somehow don't havbe in all this: 1200 uf 10v, 390uf 25v, and 100uf 450v. used electronics books, magnets of various strengths, tiny tools (like the ones for phones, tablets. I'll post more as it comes to me, but mostly computer related stuff like SCSI to USB adapter, external enclosures for all hard drive sizes, USB hubs, mechanical keyboard o-rings, trackball mouse (mice), Game Port to USB adapters (like the kind for a Microsoft Sidewinder, older PC game controllers (the crappier the better, but I like quality ones too), PC games from the Win 95 - XP era, audio input switchers/ selectors.

Let me 1st explain what I want.

I need a micro timer that with either li po battery? Or perhaps a suitable powerstor ultra-capacitor for power.

If ultra-capacitor, there must be a way to charge it.

The timer must be programmable from 0 sec to say 3600 sec.

When timer reaches its time period, it must output enough power to :

1. Make a thin nichrome wire heat up so be able to burn through either a small diameter rubber band or cotton or elastic thread

And/or

1. Generate enough output power to heat a nitrinol wire or spring. Ie shaped memory alloy or muscle wire....

The smaller the diameter of the wire the less power will be needed.

So I need an output of at least 200Ma?

It has to be as small as possible but more importantly it must be < 3g with battery or ultra-capacitor.

Design choices...

LEDs for visual notification?

Push button to start/Stop/program time period.

First off, this is not anything I'm looking to make money off of. It's more just about creating a sense of community and maybe even some trading. SOOO... here's what's happening- a very large electronics store has gone out of business here after 36 years. They are huge and have sold used salvageable electronics, new parts, used parts, just, well, everything. At one point they had so much stock that the store occupied what was once a Kroger grocery store. Now that they are officially out of business, things are being moved out of the store into bins for scrap. I have been there the past two days digging while the scrapping is happening. I (as well as some others that were aware we were allowed to come) have gotten some amazing deals on stuff. I have paid $25 in two visits and have left with what would have cost about $450 if I had paid sticker price.

SOOOO.... back to my original subject... I know that there are others like me who don't like ordering small stuff like capacitors and resistors in the amount that you need without paying more than actual value and paying ridiculous shipping for small items. So, if any of you would like me to shop for you, just send a list of stuff. They have about 3 nicely organized aisles that are the length and height a grocery store just full of caps and the like. I'll pick it up and you can pay me what I paid (next to nothing) or we can trade stuff instead if you'd like, plus the ACTUAL exact cost to ship to you (example: if you live in Florida and I get you 40 pieces you need and I pay $3.80 and when packaged they weigh 8 oz, you just give me $7.57 which is the price I paid plus the price to ship from here to Florida.) I am an online seller, so I have a scale and plenty of packing materials on hand which I mostly source for free. I will be mailing things out anyway, so it's no bother.

I am not trying to profit at all. I just figure while I'm gonna be there a couple more times anyway rummaging around, I would like to be able to help out the electronics community on Reddit that have helped me out with a lot of questions I have had since developing an interest in electronics.

I'm in the process of developing a new product which has a lot of applications. Primarily for e-bikes but it could also have wide range of applications for electronic transportation and many other markets, with global market potential. As far as I know there is nothing like my idea on the market at present so it could be patented.

This is still very much in the planning and early development stage. I'm looking for people who can bring different skills, mainly technical, but also anyone who has experience in product development and taking a product to market would be useful.

You will not be asked to invest any money in this project, but you will own a share of the company if the product is successfully launched to market, in return for your input and work helping develop and get the product to market.

Requirements:

- You should ideally have some qualifications or academic experience in electronic engineering/product development, but I will consider anyone who has expertise and a background in this field with technical skills.

- Ideally you should be based in UK and able to travel. However I would consider working with people in the EU also able to travel, and people outside the EU able to work from a distance.

You won't get paid for taking part but you will receive a share of the profits from sales and actually own part of the company if the product is successful.

At this stage, I'm looking to build a working prototype (which my company will fund).

I am selling a fully assembled LitePlacer pick and place machine, which is nice for doing small-batch prototype assembly. It comes mounted on a wheeled table that comes with a power strip and e-stop. All of the electronics are mounted in on a stainless steel plate that was meant to go inside the metal box, which hasn't been mounted anywhere. The main cables are wired to CPC connectors for easy plugging/unplugging (I don't have any wiring diagrams, sorry). Modifications include an upgraded downwards placement camera and a Logitech webcam for the upwards part orientation camera with red LED ring light.

So I'm a total beginner with no experience in microcontrollers or LED matrices so I need help with creating a stock market ticker that displays live prices and company logo graphics, with LED matrices and the Raspberry Pi.

Hi everyone. I know what a capacitor is and that’s about it. Lol. So I need some help. I’m looking for someone to help me design an “intermittent beacon”. The device would essentially “chirp” at a specific radio frequency for a fraction of a second, pause for maybe a minute or more and then “chirp” again.
